Chevrolet's B-Electric Architecture Encryption Cracked!

The encryption of Global B electrical architecture from Chevrolet has always been a thorn in the side of tuning enthusiasts and Corvette owners alike. Strong encryption of the engine and transmission control units previously prevented efficient software calibration. But now the spell is broken. HP tuners, a company known for its software prowess and innovation, has the riddle solved! HP Tuners specialists actually managed to crack the E99 engine control module of the Global B electrical architecture. But that's not all: the T93 transmission control module, which is used in the 10-speed transmissions of the 10Lxx vehicles, was also decoded.

cracked the B electrical architecture

The groundbreaking development brings with it a whole range of modification options for Chevrolet vehicles. For $1.499,99, owners can now have their C8 Corvette Stingrays tuned with HP Tuners' ECM service. Unfortunately, the Z06 version of the C8 series is currently (still) incompatible, but the first steps have been taken. The list of supported vehicles also expands to include the Cadillac Escalade-V, the CT4-V Blackwing, the CT5-V Blackwing and the CT5-V with BiTurbo V6.

The process goes like this: Customers must send the engine controller to HP Tuners to enable the controller's diagnostic and tuning capabilities. The VCM Suite Beta and credits for licensing the ECM must then be purchased. The next step is to use the VCM scanner to clear various diagnostic trouble codes. And finally the MPVI3-OBDII adapter (sold separately for $399,99) and the VCM Suite Beta are used to "chip". The same process applies to the T93 Transmission Control Module, which service is currently priced at $399,99 and is compatible with V-Series Cadillac vehicles equipped with the 10Lxx-Series automatic transmission.

surely this is just the "tuning start"

From simple upgrades like a cold air intake to extensive mods like others camshafts ECM service is hailed as GM's most comprehensive software solution for GM's heavily encrypted ECU. And there are already first success stories: Vengeance performance, a well-known tuner, has already announced a Stage 1 BiTurbo kit for the Stingray. Thanks to the ECM service from HP Tuners, the kit enables 650 hp and 760 Nm on the wheel. And that is just the beginning! Over time, Vengeance Performance and many other tuning companies will continue to expand their kits. It's only a matter of time before the ECM service for the Z06 with flat-plane crankshaft will follow. Freuen wir uns! Photo credit: HP Tuners

Of course, that wasn't the end of it!
