The N54 (bi-turbo straight-six) from BMW has impressive tuning potential and has gained an extensive following, especially in the 335i & 135i. In order to transform the 3 Series with N54 into a serious M3 competitor, the TurboZentrum offers, among other things, a Stage 2 upgrade for the two smaller turbos, which enables performance of up to 480 hp - and that with complete external standard equipment, so-called "bolt on". A Stage 2 tuning differs from a Stage 1 tuning by the size of the compressor wheel, which sounds simple but is quite complex in practice. In the first step, the dimensions and contour of the wheel are calculated to ensure that it fits into the compressor housing on the one hand and harmonises with the other components of the turbocharger, especially the exhaust shaft, on the other. Many manufacturers take "any" wheel from their range that is currently available and/or particularly large. However, the relationship to the exhaust side and the resulting output are then not taken into account.

Because the TurboZentrum is able to mill compressor wheels to its own specifications, it can always achieve the optimum in performance, response and top-end performance. This not only results in significantly higher top-end performance, but also reduces the load on the turbo, as it promotes the standard air mass even at a significantly lower turbocharger speed - and can therefore be tuned for durability. In the next step, the compressor housing is milled to the required size and the gap dimension is also optimized. In addition, all Stage 2 upgrades will be fitted with reinforced bearings to increase turbocharger durability and withstand the increased power.
