The future of the minivan Delica from Mitsubishi is currently on the Japan Mobility Show presented with the D:X Concept. The concept vehicle, which appears as a mixture of a van and an SUV, “could” be a reference to the next generation of the Mitsubishi delica which is still popular in the Japanese market. Known as a “crossover MPV,” the concept fuses the features of a minivan with the features of an SUV. In Europe the Delica was known as Mitsubishi space gear marketed, but imports ended in 2003. In Japan, however, the Delica is still present and has already reached its fifth generation Particle D:5.
Mitsubishi D:X Concept
The D:X Concept, which has now been presented, is based on the basic principle of one off-road capable minivan. This is not new for Mitsubishi; The four-wheel drive van sold in Europe as the L300 was already blessed with the technology of the Pajero. The D:X Concept, which as off-road six-seater is designed, has individual Seats, which can be adjusted and rotated as desired. The lack of one B-pillar enables convenient access, with front and sliding doors making entry even easier. The angular ones plastic panels also give the van a robust off-road look. This is a highlight of the concept futuristic cockpitthat with a large color screen Is provided.
Rearview mirrors replaced by cameras, of course
The mentioned screen is used to Camera images in off-road operation, thus enabling an improved overview of the surrounding area. The traditional ones rearview mirror have been replaced by external cameras, whose images can be seen on monitors in the A-pillar. And another innovation is this transparent front below the windshield, which is intended to provide an improved overview of the road. A compact one Display, comparable to the size of a Smartphones, is integrated into the steering wheel and displays the most important driving data.
equipped with a plug-in hybrid drive
The D:X Concept has one under the hood Plug-in hybrid drive, whose exact specifications have not yet been announced by Mitsubishi. It enables the study to be Electric city vehicle or as Travel van to be used for longer distances. And finally ... Even though the Delica is no longer available in Europe, it continues to hold its own in its home market. The D:X Concept gives a glimpse of what the future generation of the Delica could look like. The mix of van and SUV could perhaps become a reality, based on the success of the Delica so far.
