The Porsche 911 Turbo - the benchmark for 45 years!

For 45 years it has been the epitome of the everyday high-performance sports car: the Porsche 911 Turbo. Following the market launch of the 911 Turbo S, the 911 Turbo Coupé and Cabriolet are now entering the next generation - even more powerful, faster and more individual. Thanks to 427 kW (580 hp; 911 Turbo: combined fuel consumption 11,1 l / 100 km, combined CO2 emissions 254 g / km; 911 Turbo Cabriolet: combined fuel consumption 11,3 l / 100 km, combined CO2 emissions 257 g / km), an increase of 30 kW (40 hp) compared to the predecessor, undercut the two models with 2,8 seconds (minus 0,2 s) for the sprint from zero to 100 km / h. 750 Newton meters (plus 40 Nm) of torque, now without an overboost time limit, make intermediate sprints even more spontaneous and effortless. The acceleration, power and torque of the new 911 Turbo are on par with the previous generation 911 Turbo S. The power transmission is also carried out by the turbo-specific eight-speed PDK transmission. The top speed remains unchanged at 320 km / h. For the first time, options such as a sports or lightweight package, sports suspension and sports exhaust system are also available for the 911 Turbo. This enables customers to tailor their vehicle even better to their individual needs.

the benchmark for others since 1975

The Porsche 911 Turbo - the benchmark for 45 years!

The new sports cars have a great legacy: since 1975 the 911 Turbo has been synonymous with luxury and performance. Every generation continued its reputation as a worldwide reference for high-performance sports cars. The 911 Turbo combines sportiness with suitability for everyday use, emotionality with reliability and dynamism with efficiency. The latest generation of the 2 + 2-seater is more than twice as powerful as the original turbo with three-liter six-cylinder, a single charger and 260 hp. Although the 911 Turbo has become faster, bigger and more comfortable over the years, it has always retained its basic characteristics.

Improved performance and easy turning

The Porsche 911 Turbo - the benchmark for 45 years!

The six-cylinder boxer engine of the 580 Turbo with a displacement of 911 cm3.745 (3 Turbo: Combined fuel consumption 11,1 l / 100 km, combined CO2 emissions 254 g / km; 911 Turbo Cabriolet: combined fuel consumption 11,3 l / 100 km, combined CO2 emissions 257 g / km) now has a symmetrical VTG turbocharger with electrically controlled bypass valves. Together with the redesigned charge air cooling and the use of piezo injectors, this improves response, performance, torque curve and easy turning. Chassis and body have grown in width. With 42 millimeters more track width at the front and the new 20-inch tires of size 255/35, the front axle now turns in even more precisely. Active PTM all-wheel control can now transmit even more power to the front wheels. Tires of size 315/30 on 21-inch wheels - an inch more than on the front axle - and a track that is ten millimeters wider increase the traction on the actively steered rear axle. The revised brake system is even more powerful, recognizable by the standard red fixed calipers. The front cast iron discs now measure 408 millimeters (plus 28 mm) and are 36 millimeters thick (plus 2 mm). 30 millimeter thick discs with a diameter of 380 millimeters are installed on the rear axle.

two different chassis variants

For the first time, an optional sports exhaust system is available for the 911 Turbo. Also new are two different suspension variants: While the PASM standard suspension offers a wide spread between sportiness and comfort, the much more tightly tuned electronically controlled sports suspension with ten millimeters lower benefits the agility of the new 911 Turbo. The tuning is specifically designed for driving dynamics and enables even more stability in high-speed passages, for example when used on racetracks. The hydraulic roll compensation PDCC and the ceramic brake system PCCB with ten-piston fixed calipers at the front provide additional fine tuning for driving dynamics.

further developed adaptive aerodynamics

The design of the 911 Turbo has become even more muscular. For the new chassis, the body was widened by 45 millimeters to 1.840 millimeters above the front axle. The new front hood with a distinctive bead underlines the sportiness. LED headlights with PDLS Plus illuminate the road as standard. On the rear axle, the body now measures exactly 1,90 meters in width (plus 20 millimeters). Another distinguishing feature of the new 911 Turbo is the further developed adaptive aerodynamics with regulated cooling air flaps in the front, a larger active front spoiler and a clearly grown variable rear spoiler. Process air is sucked in via the 911 Turbo-typical air inlets in the rear side panels instead of cooling air as before. The charge air coolers are now placed directly in the airflow under the boot lid. The continuous light strip with LED taillights and the new slat tailgate grille with silver trim strips complete the rear design.

Lightweight and sport package as new options

The Porsche 911 Turbo - the benchmark for 45 years!

With the two new options, the lightweight package and the sports package, the appearance and performance can be further sharpened. The lightweight package for the Coupé reduces the vehicle weight by 30 kilograms. This is made possible, among other things, by light full bucket seats, the elimination of the rear seats and reduced insulation. As a result, the engine sound reaches the driver's ear even more directly. The sport package includes the sport design package 911 Turbo as well as other applications in black, carbon elements and exclusive design rear lights.

the interior of the new 911 Turbo

The basic features of the modern interior correspond to those of the 911 Carrera models with Porsche Advanced Cockpit and Direct Touch Control. The PCM's 10,9-inch center screen can now be operated quickly and without distractions thanks to the new architecture. The particularly high-quality and extensive equipment includes, among other things, fully electric 14-way sports seats, Sport Chrono Package, a GT sports steering wheel with shift paddles, multifunction and mode switch as well as the powerful BOSE® surround sound system. There are numerous options for further customization, such as Porsche InnoDrive with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning system with traffic sign recognition, night vision assistant, surround view and the Burmester® high-end surround sound system. The new models can be ordered from July 16. If we receive timely information on further details, there is of course an update for this report.
