That the Gunther factory The tuner has made us look like a dream with that 400R from 2018 and the recently presented 400R Greenwich proven from the limited 1of25 series. The GuntherWerks also knows exactly what you have to do to modify such a converted specimen for tough use on the racetrack, as the Guntherwerk's “Sting” 993 shows us, the legendary photographer Larry Chen was allowed to extensively test it on the track. And the video for this has been online for a few days on the “Hoonigan AutoFocus” YouTube channel. With the 911, Gunther Werks is again launching a phenomenal reinterpretation of the 993 of the XNUMX generation, which is more than just impressive to say the least.

more than just a beefed up 911

The 911 is not just a beefed up XNUMX, but a full-fledged racing car that is still approved for road traffic. What more could you want? Who has never tuned Gunther factory heard that they should know that the boys & girls have been offering the limited edition 400R for some time. This is a heavily modified 993 with widebody body, weight reduction and a completely redesigned and over 400 hp 4,0-liter six-cylinder under the hood developed by Rothsport Racing. Gunther Werks has limited the 400R to just 25 vehicles and unfortunately it is at a price of 525.000 US dollars as expected anything but cheap. The vehicle from the video is called "The Sting" and is even more radical than the tuner's "normal" 400R. It weighs only approx. 1.130 kg and is therefore almost 70 kg lighter than the 400R.

Racing interior in "The Sting"

The interior is radically designed for racing and shows itself, for example, with carbon bucket seats, light door panels, a roll cage painted in the vehicle color, Schroth 5-point racing belts, Alcantara dashboard and a fire extinguishing system. Gunther Werke says that this XNUMX is the most radical and fastest so far that they have ever built. And with the yellow paint, it even reminds of the CALL CTR2 "Sport" as we find. And so that “The Guntherwerks Sting 993” can get away with it completely without any wounds, the entire front was covered with a transparent film, especially for use on the racetrack. Better safe than sorry! The video lasts about 30 minutes and impressively shows how performance-oriented the heavily tuned 993 really is. The power-to-weight ratio as well as the built-in components ensure that even a current XNUMX has to pull down a lot to be able to keep up with "The Sting" at all.

official limited edition vehicle

Incidentally, the vehicle officially belongs to the limited edition of the 25 vehicles mentioned above. It is therefore also fully equipped with the well-known modern components such as the LED headlights with carbon inlay, the Brembo sports brake system, but also comfortable goodies such as power steering or a functional air conditioning system. And finally ... Another impressive vehicle from Gunther's owner Peter Nam that shows the incredible performance of the company. The 993 from Gunther Werks is faster than a 991.1 Turbo S on the racetrack

The 400-based 993R delivered by Gunther Werks was designed by Randy Pobst from Motor Trend Tried and tested on the racetrack. The remastered 993 with a 4,0-liter six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine and 431 hp and 423 Nm (312 lb-ft) had to compete against a 911 GT3 RS (991.2) with a 4,0-liter six-cylinder and 512 hp. And the significantly lighter (1.224 kg.) Gunther Werks 993 beat the RS at the Willow Springs Raceway. The yellow 1 drove a lap time of 26,90: 911 minutes and was even faster than a Mercedes-AMG GT S or a Porsche 991.1 Turbo S Coupé (XNUMX).
