1997 RUF CTR2 "Sport" Porsche 911 (993) with 700 PS!

This exclusive 700 PS capable RUF CTR2 "Sport" based on a Porsche 911 of the 993 series is looking for a new owner. For many, RUF is probably the craziest way to drive a 911 and this CTR2 Sport from 1997 is a very good example. As already mentioned, it is based on the 993 and is equipped, among other things, with a monstrous six-cylinder boxer engine with a maximum output of 702 hp. A vehicle that has already been used in games like Gran Turismo 2 (was the second most expensive street legal car there) and looks extremely brutal as a variant in yellow and with the unmistakable double-decker wing at the rear. As far as we know, this example is actually the first of only 16 built vehicles as the CTR2 Sport "Widebody" and overall it was number 11 in the CTR2 series with a total of only 30 vehicles. By the way, another copy in green was auctioned in 2019 (we reported).

And this 2 is one of only two cars built that were created for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb and therefore had even more modifications than the "normal" CTR2. The front fenders, the sill extensions, the rear trunk lid and the large double wing are made of composite materials, while the front trunk lid and the doors are made of carbon. The tail unit at the rear is even adjustable and designed in such a way that it presses more air into the intercooler while at the same time the rear is pressed onto the asphalt. Most of the Ruf CTR3,6 models had a 993 liter boxer from the 520 Turbo with larger KKK turbos and XNUMX hp (later 580 hp) are in the papers. The sport derivative with titanium connecting rods and lighter flywheel, on the other hand, even achieves 702 hp and 780 NM torque. In view of the empty weight of just 1273 kg, this is a fabulous figure, and not only then.

with six-speed manual transmission

Incidentally, the potent engine was coupled to a manual six-speed manual gearbox with a short gear ratio, so that today's athletes can still be kept in check. RM Sotheby's has the XNUMX with the chassis number W09BC0364VPR06011 and the engine code 63T06468 now in an online auction that ends on June 11th, somewhere between $ 640.000 and $ 720.000 ($ 725.000 to $ 815.000), and we believe this price is not fiction. After all, the vehicle is a typical garage vehicle that was only taken out for a few races at events in the USA and Canada and almost always achieved at least one podium. The result is less mileage! And all of this with complete road approval even for the EU including Germany.

Video: auto-motor-und-sport tests the CTR2 Sport

Owner number 2 brought the CTR2 Sport to Germany a few years ago and equipped it with a street-legal silencer. The new exhaust system reduces the output of the 3,6-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine with water injection to 580 hp, which is still enough to get to the Mendig airfield in just 01:51:29 minutes. to go around. A current Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991) does this only approx. 4 seconds faster. And if auto-motor-und-sport had been able to call up the full power in the test, the two would have been at almost the same place. Impressive evidence of how extremely superior this vehicle must have been in 1997.
