From the past to the present: Alpina B5s as the predecessor of our B5 Touring!

Many of us still remember the times when the BMW E61 5er Touring was the undisputed "top dog" of the BMW touring world. With its elegant design and powerful performance, it set standards in the automotive industry. But the icing on the vehicle was without a doubt that Alpina B5s upgrade. With an impressive output of 530 PS was the Alpina B5s a real rocket on wheels and even superior to the E61 M5 Touring in terms of performance. The E61 5 Series Touring, modified by the experts at Alpina, set new standards for performance and luxury in the touring class. Equipped with a finely tuned 4.4 liter V8 engine with centrifugal compressor, it was every motorist's dream.

The power of the Alpina B5s

The Alpina B5s was a masterpiece in terms of performance, handling and luxury. With its (still) superior acceleration and seamless power delivery, it was able to put many sports cars in their place. At the same time, it offered a level of comfort and understated elegance that enabled it to compete with the world's finest luxury saloons. We at tuningblog were lucky enough to own such a vehicle back then. And what a time that was! Our Alpina B5s was not only a joy to drive, it was also a real eye-catcher. Anyone who had the pleasure of seeing or driving the car couldn't help but admire its beauty and understated capability. Pictures of the vehicle hidden in our gallery at the end of the post still arouse admiration.

From the B5s to the G31 B5 Touring

The B5s was a true gem in our collection and an honor to own and drive. Not only did he bring us a lot of joy, but he also laid the foundation for what was to come many years later. After our Alpina B5s and a few M vehicles, Audis, Phaetons and the Cadillac CTS-V, we embarked on a new adventure last year: one Alpina B5 Touring. The experiences and memories we made with the B5s more or less guided us on our way to the current B5. The G31 B5 Touring is the next (and last) generation in the development of the Alpina family and, after the F10/F11 B5, a worthy successor to the B5s. With its improved performance, refined design and advanced technology, it still stands at the very top of the touring class for us.

both already legendary vehicles

Our B5 Touring stands in the tradition of the old B5s and carries its heritage with pride. We are enthusiastic about the performance, the comfort and the luxury that the vehicle offers. But we also don't forget the roots that the car has. The Alpina B5s will always be a part of our story and we look forward to the future chapters that we share with our G31 B5 Touring will write. Remembering the B5s and anticipating what our G31 B5 Touring has in store, we continue in the fast lane of automotive excellence. Because as we always say at tuningblog: The best is yet to come!
