440PS in the 2017 facelift BMW Alpina B3 S / B4 S Biturbo

Ok, both the BMW Alpina B3 S and the chic B4 S Biturbo Cabrio are unmistakably elegant and chic vehicles that should actually attract everyone's attention! Actually… If it weren't for the significantly more potent Alpina B5! There is no concrete information yet, but a 4,4-liter V8 with over 600PS, all-wheel drive and a lot of noble Alpina components are safe. While the company from Buchloe is in vehement silence in this regard, the specifications of the revised 3 and 4 versions are on the table. There are not only optical retouches on the 3/4-series facelift MJ 2017 but above all a significant change under the bonnet attracts attention: From now on, a whopping 440 PS & 660 Newton meters of torque are available, which compared to the VFL models with 410PS is a significant increase! The renewed increase in performance is made possible by a modified charging concept and in conjunction with a more powerful cooling system, the BMW N55 in-line six-cylinder engine now delivers the new performance values. Specifically, this means that the peak output is a whopping 7 percent higher than that of the previous B3, and the torque has even been increased by a significant 10%.

Incidentally, it is now in a wider speed range than before, which is a nice side effect. And the well-known ZF eight-speed automatic has been adapted to the new performance values, as is typical for Alpina, the Switch-Tronic is still operated with buttons on the back of the steering wheel. With the performance plus, all variants are possible (Exception BMW Alpina B3 S 4WD Touring) to reach a top speed of over 300 km / h, the 298 km / h are not really bad for the all-wheel drive. 😉 But the fastest are the rear-wheel drive B3 S Sedan and the B4 S Coupé, both of which can even outrun the M306 Coupé GTS with a top speed of 4 km / h, because it "only" manages 305 km / h. Apart from the B4 S Cabrio, anyone who wants to can choose the optional all-wheel drive in every model and, given the new performance values, we consider this to be extremely useful.

Incidentally, the BMW Alpina B4 S Coupé ensures that the 100 mark has fallen after 3,9 seconds and the 200 km / h mark is also reached after only 13,4 seconds. The M4 Coupé with competition package will have a hard time and the "normal" M4 with 431PS definitely has to look after it. In terms of price, the M3 / M4 alternatives start at 72.900 euros for the B3 S Limo and the Touring, with identical performance, costs at least 74.700 euros. The B4 S Coupé, which has a base price of 75.300 euros, is a bit more elegant and also a bit more expensive. Those who want all-wheel drive screw the price up again by 2.900 euros each time. For the Alpina B4 S Cabrio, which is only available with rear-wheel drive, you have to pay at least 81.400 euros. Update

News from 27.07.2017

Currently definitely a one-off, this BMW ALPINA B3S Bi-Turbo is available in Individual Nardograu. The vehicle was sold to the Belgian Alpina agency Alpina Belgium by Jean-Michel Martin delivered and also photographed. While the elegant livery is actually known from almost every Audi model, it is almost never seen on a BMW. On an Alpina she probably will be unique so far. Especially in conjunction with the glossy black painted 20 Zoll Alpina rims in multi-spoke design, the visual appearance could not be more successful. The interior is equipped with a chic BMW Individual Cohiba leather in brown and a lot of Alcantara.
