Did you know that the internal name for the idiosyncratic Z3 Coupe is "E36 / 8"? The two-seater roadster was officially launched in the fall of 1995, and three years later, in the summer of 3, the coupe, often known as the “sneaker”, came. A year later, in April 1998, the roadster and coupé were given a subtle facelift and new engines were added. With immediate effect, the engine range ranged from the 1999 liter four-cylinder with 1,8 kW (85 hp) to the S115 B50 - 32 liter six-cylinder with 3,2 kW (236 hp) which, from 321, in the form of the S2001 B54, even a proud 32 kW ( 239 hp). But as extensive as the modernizations were, the Z325 remained an exotic roadster and coupé. By the beginning of July 3, the BMW US Manufacturing Company, LLC in Greer, South Carolina (USA) had built 2002 roadsters and only 279.273 coupés. Incidentally, the open Z17.815 bears the internal name E3 / 36 and, as already mentioned, the Coupe is called E7 / 36.
In addition, there was the E36 / 7S and the E36 / 8S which were both motorsport models. So much for the history of the Z3 and now for the current vehicle from the Californian tuner Performance Technic. It is a red M Coupé with an S54 engine from the BMW M3 (E46) of the time. In the Z3, however, the power shrinks to 239 kW (325 PS) instead of the usual 252 kW (343 PS). The background is that no exhaust system long enough could be installed ex works to achieve the performance of the M3, the Z3 is just a good deal shorter. An HRE Performance Wheels 303 Classic wheel set was installed on the current vehicle, which fits like the proverbial "fist on the eye". We do not have any information about the dimensions of the rims, but we assume that it is 19 inch. For the new wheel set there was apparently also a subtle lowering that ensures that the rims sit perfectly in the wheel arch. And the brake system has also been revised, if you look closely you can see slotted brake discs that were not installed at the factory.
At the front, the chrome kidneys have been replaced by black counterparts and the Z3 also seems to have received a sports exhaust system. All around a super elegant vehicle that has received slight modifications in exactly the right places without losing the classic shape and the claim of the coupe. Apart from the changes just mentioned, nothing seems to have been done on the Z3 Coupe so we leave you alone with the pictures at this point. 🙂 But if we do get some information about important changes, there is of course an update for this post. You will be informed about the update if you have ours Feed subscribed. We hope you enjoy watching.
