Caterham Seven 170 & 170R with even more minimalism!

Caterham did with that 2022 Seven 170 a particularly light series model is now available. It just hit 440 kilograms on 84 hp and they come from a key car unit with a displacement of less than 0,7 liters. Our Power-to-weight calculator the flounder only attests to this 5,24 kilograms per horsepower. Depending on the market, it is considered to be Kit or as Complete vehicle available. Caterham Cars has been part of the Japanese for some time VT Holdings and it is now apparently leaving its first traces in the product range. The Caterham Seven 170 is the lightest and smallest series model ever built by the brand. And so, like its predecessor - the Seven 160 - it is a real Japanese key car. Driven by a three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine from Suzuki with a displacement of 660 cubic centimeters, the athlete shrinks to a width of just 1.470 millimeters.

The powertrain meets the Euro 6 requirements, the British put the CO2 emissions at 109 g / km. The 84 hp and 116 Nm torque ensure a sprint of 0 at 100 km / h in just 6,9 seconds and the Top speed is over 160 km / h specified. When it comes to transmission, you rely on one manual five-speed gearshift and of course there is only rear-wheel drive. The performance comes out on the road 155 rear tire on 14 inch alloy wheels. You can buy the speedster as a basic version 170S or as a particularly radical variant 170R and the vehicles can be selected in four paint colors. In general, however, there are many options for individualization already ex works. During the 170S the Cruiser is looking for and scores with a road chassis, 14-inch silver Juno alloy wheels, complete windshield, weather protection equipment including hood, side protection, leather seats in black and a Momo steering wheel, the 170R wants that Racer welcome on board.

The 170R has a sports suspension, 14-inch alloy wheels in Black Juno, a Momo steering wheel, racing seats made of composite material, four-point sports belts, a limited-slip differential and a carbon dashboard. But as already mentioned, both vehicles can be extensive individualize. The variant with Euro 6 (Seven 170S) should be approved in the EU and should cost 29.495 euros plus taxes. And the R variant is available from 30.995 euros - including taxes. We do not currently know whether there will also be left-hand drive vehicles.
