Teaser: new Chevrolet K5 Blazer planned!

If General Motors the iconic K5 blazer not revived, then others will have to do it. The K5 Blazer originated in the 70's to early 90's and could now be revived by a tuner. With state-of-the-art technology and all the amenities that current vehicles also have. As far as we know, the classic is to be created as a small one Restomod series. Concrete it is Velocity Modern Classics (formerly known as Velocity Restorations) building the "new" 5-1969 era Velocity K1972 Blazer on a Velocity Modern Classics frame and featuring a "handcrafted custom interior and plenty of modern conveniences" equip. The vehicles will have Dana 44 and 60 front/rear axles and also "beautifully restored bodies".

Under the hood, the tuner relies on one 6,2 liter Gen V LT1 V8 with around 455 hp and you probably want to couple the engine to a 10L80 10-speed automatic. Of course, the classic has all-wheel drive and other highlights include a high-performance sports exhaust, Wilwood disc brakes all round, JW Speaker LED headlights and you can choose from one or two-tone Glasurit special paint finishes. The vehicles should also have a hardtop with an OEM look, the classic chrome-plated radiator grille and, of course, matching aprons.

The wheel arches are fitted with polished 17-inch Pacer steel rims with 35-inch (0,89 m) BF Goodrich all-terrain tires. Many small details such as foldable Foot Rests from Amp Research PowerStep or new discs and seals complete the look. And inside? There should be a mix of modern and vintage. Inspired by the GM vehicles of the time, "each Blazer will receive color-matched upholstery, carpet, dashboard, a bespoke headliner and optional Velocity door panels."

Velocity bucket seats are also planned and all seating can be purchased in the K5 with marine grade faux leather or with bespoke genuine leather covers. Last but not least, the cockpit is equipped with a Focal audio system, an optional touchscreen infotainment center (with Apple CarPlay and reversing camera), Vintage Air conditioning, XM radio and a custom Velocity Dakota digital instrument cluster.
