LeMans rims and 800 HP - 1931 Ford Model A pickup truck

This 800 PS hot rod monster on ultra chic Mazda IMSA LeMans forged rims is absolutely amazing! A 1931 Ford Model A pickup truck as a project vehicle by Mike Burroughs who was also the creator of "Rusty Slammington" is. The monster was specially built for the SEMA Auto Show 2018 and easily outshines the rusty five. And for Burroughs it is not the first conversion based on a Model A. Because he has already converted an old Ford Model A from 1928 to the pain limit and brutally lowered it. He also donated a 4-liter V8 engine to the hot rod from a 1995 BMW 740i with over 300 hp and there was classic rear-wheel drive and a manual 6-speed gearbox from an E39 M5. You can find a video at the end of the post.

1.000 hp - no problem for the V8

But the variant from 2018 clearly surpasses the two vehicles mentioned above. We have never had such a perfect interpretation of a "modern but also classic hot rods" seen. And if Burroughs was no stranger to the scene by the time it was completed, this is definitely the case with this copy. And the vehicle is a real hot rod and not a street rod. In other words, everything has been done here to get the part faster and the term "Performance rodding“To do all the honors. In the style of tuning from the 1940s and 50s, everything that was unnecessary was removed and the engine was tackled next. As already mentioned, the basis was a Ford Model A pickup from 1931 which can now only be recognized by the driver's cab, the radiator grille and almost 8 inches (approx. 20 cm) of the bonnet.

Chassis is custom-made

The chassis is a custom-made product from a mix of a hot rod and a trophy car (custom 2 × 3 tubular chassis) with double suspension at the front and 4-link rear suspension, that with an exposed radiator behind the cab conveys absolute practicality with no compromise at the same time. For the wheelset, the choice was made on rims from a Mazda LeMans prototype racing car with central locking and the absolute highlight is of course the engine. From a 2011 Mustang GT a 5,0 liter Ford Coyote V8 is installed, which of course has been extremely modified. The centerpiece is a VMP Gen3 2.65 L TVS compressor kit but also various other modifications (67 mm throttle body, VMP Twinjet, MMR Hurricane oil pump) to the almost non-existent exhaust system. The result is an unbelievable 800 PS which are sent by Jerico WC4-4 four-speed manual transmission with light McLeod aluminum flywheel and RXT double disc clutch via a specially made cardan shaft in the direction of the rear wheels.

In this way, the huge slippers at the back can be dissolved in smoke without any problems, even at higher speeds. And the engine could easily provide more than 1.000 hp, if it should. For the chassis, it was decided to use a coilover kit from H&R, which was of course specially made and, in combination with the wheel set mentioned, ensures a proper road holding. If we receive information on further changes in a timely manner, there will of course be an update for this report. You will be informed of this if you simply use ours Feed subscribe to.
