It's hard to believe that Chevrolet presented the Corvette of the C1984 model generation back in 4. The highlights at that time were a particularly sporty chassis and a maximum of 405 hp, as well as significantly increased dimensions. Unfortunately, the pimp image of the series, which developed in the following years, was catastrophic. In this country, the C4 is only known as a company car in the red-light district or perhaps from the television series "Das A-Team". Templeton “Faceman” Peck was regularly out there with a copy in white and with red stripes. The C4 has the bad image completely wrongly. Because in the fourth generation, the American sports car icon made a huge leap forward.
6,2 L V8 LS9 compressor
A new steel structure, a body made of glass fiber reinforced plastic, new wheel suspensions, better wishbones with beams made of light metal and leaf springs made of plastic were the most important features. Apart from the V8 engines with 205 to 405 hp, of course! But the owner Harold Chapman wanted the V8 (Owner of Customs and Hot Rods of Andice) apparently no longer have it. Because he just threw out the engine. Instead, the Vette is now powered by a ZR-1 LS9-V8 (6,2 L V8 LS9 compressor) Crate engine powered from the C6. The engine is coupled to the 4L85E four-speed automatic transmission of the C6 and transmits the impressive power of 647 hp and 823 Nm torque to the rear wheels using a Hammerhead 12-bolt IRS differential. And the bikes clearly have nothing to do with the series either. One-piece Forgeline GS1R forged wheels in the dimensions 18 × 11 and 18 × 12 inches with a finish in bronze are installed. The wheel set is equipped with BFGoodrich Rival S slippers in corresponding dimensions.
Ridetech C4 sports suspension & Wilwood brakes
And the chassis of the C4 has also been renewed. The Corvette got a state-of-the-art Ridetech C4 sports suspension including modified axles and literally sticks to the road. The technical changes are rounded off with a sports brake system from Wilwood for species-appropriate deceleration. Apart from the air inlets in the bonnet, there are hardly any visual details that indicate the conversion. So in some ways this C4 is a real one Sleeper. Even if this term is rather inappropriate in combination with a Corvette. If we get more information about the changes, there is of course an update for this report.
