4,7-liter V8: BMW 3 Series E36 Compact from the tuner Hartge

Can you still remember the Mercedes 300E as Hartge F1 recall? The rare specimen was published in early March on the Techno Classica website in Essen (will take place from March 25-29, 2020) and is to be auctioned off there to the highest bidder. But the classic sedan is not the only vehicle from the tuner Hartge that is to be auctioned off. This 1997 BMW 3 Series Compact with V8 should also find a new owner there. And it was also extensively rebuilt by Hartge GmbH & Co. KG in Merzig and is of course not even starting to come as standard. Even if you can hardly see it optically. But the carefully modified body with various V8 badges is driven forward by means of a brute 4,7-liter V8 force and 350 PS.

350 PS & 500 NM torque

Hartge built the M62B44-V8 from the then E39 5er / E38 7er with factory 286 PS and 440 Nm torque, which was even modified. A engine capacity ensures a jump from 4,4 liters to 4,7 and in combination with modified camshafts, another crankshaft, new connecting rods and pistons as well as corresponding valves, the engine has since sent powerful 350 HP and 500 Nm torque to the rear wheels. In terms of torque, you are on par with the then S62B50-V8 engine, which, as is well known, did its job in the top-of-the-range E39 M5 5 Series. But in order for the engine to fit, some modifications had to be made, especially on the rear axle. The violet lacquered Compact has an adjustable coilover from Bilstein and the chic 19 inch rims with tires in the format 235/35 and 265/30 sit on a hard-built construction of the rear axle.

the brake system was also adapted

And so that the load comes to a standstill again, the brake system is also adapted to the additional power and is shown, for example, with large perforated brake discs. On the body, the wheel arches were also discreetly exhibited and a special front lip, a tear-off edge on the boot lid and a double pipe exhaust system make the certain difference compared to the base as 323ti. And a lot has changed in the cabin too, and the V8 Compact with Recaro bucket seat for the driver, sporty aluminum pedals, new steering wheel rim and a speedometer up to 300 km / h can be seen. We are excited to see what price the Hartge-Compact will achieve at the auction. If we receive timely information about further changes or the auction price, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed if you simply use ours Feed subscribe to.
