It was the dream of the M fan base - the BMW E46 M3 Touring! And the power station wagon was already ready for production and of BMW implemented as a prototype. But shortly before the end, M GmbH did not have the courage to bring the combi version of the figurehead onto the market. But that the base of the 3 Series Touring is definitely suitable for a conversion to the M3, this copy shows us that Naveed Yousufzai from Speedhunters magazine got in front of the lens. The 3 Series Touring (Bj.2000, basis: 323i) was optically largely converted to the M3 with original parts and now enjoys widened wheel arches, the typical M front apron and of course the M3 bonnet with power dome from the E46. And even small details such as the oval M rear view mirror were considered. Only the rear of the normal 3-series touring is currently installed at the rear. However, with small widenings on the right and left.
931,6 PS on the rear wheels
The absolute highlight of the vehicle, however, is under the bonnet. Here is not the phenomenal S54B32 in-line six-cylinder with 343 PS & 365 NM torque of the M3, but the no less spectacular 2JZ from the Toyota Supra. And thanks to a lot of tuning, this engine is almost three times as powerful as its standard M3 counterpart. After months of conversion, the machine now delivers an insane 931,6 hp on the wheels (over 1.000 HP engine power) which of course means that the 2JZ-GTE VVT-i engine has been modified particularly extensively. It got a Garrett GTX3584 single turbo and Kelford V202D cams, hangs on a V161 6-speed manual transmission with RPS billet double disc clutch and the software supplies AEM as an Infinity engine management system. Other important components are a Precision Turbo 60 mm wastegate, a special intercooler from Bell Intercoolers, Injector Dynamics ID1700X injection nozzles and the Walbro 485lph fuel pump.
Brake: Trophy System from StopTech
For the chassis, the owner Jason relies on a combination of MCS 2WNR and M Performance parts as well as components from other third-party suppliers such as Hyperco. And that also applies to the braking system. It also comes from the accessories. A Trophy System from StopTech is installed with large 6-piston calipers at the front and 4-piston at the rear, which, in combination with slotted 380 mm & 355 mm brake discs, ensure deceleration in line with their standing. And Toyo Proxes RS1 slicks on an ultra-light set of Advan Racing GT forged rims in stylish black provide befitting traction. And a lot has happened in the cabin too. Most of the Touring can still be used for daily use. Sporty NRG bucket seats made of carbon with Schroth belts are installed, the rear seat has been blown out and from now on the cabin has a huge sound system.
powerful sound system in the M3 Touring
The most important components here are the Kenwood Excelon DDX6903S entertainment system, an Alpine PDX V9 5-channel amplifier, Focal Elite K2Power ES165KX3 3-way speakers, plus MB Quart QSD 216 2-way speakers and a powerful Boston Acoustics G3 12 -Inch subwoofer. With many other small details such as the new headlights with LED turn signal technology, the completely removed Chrome or the carbon insert in the rear apron, the extremely potent one-off is impressively rounded off.
