For the new Audi RS6 Avant (C8, Type F2), the chassis manufacturer KW automotive has developed individually adjustable spring sets. The springs give the optional "RS sports suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC)" for the Audi RS6 the functions of a coilover kit, such as being able to set the lowering as desired. As part of the parts certificate, a stepless lowering of 5 - 30 millimeters is possible with the KW springs and the KW threaded sleeves attached to the standard dampers. The spring rates harmonize perfectly with the characteristics of the variable damper characteristics of the RS sports suspension plus and give the Audi RS6 (C8, type F2) a sporty, dynamic driving behavior. Compared to conventional springs, the height-adjustable KW spring sets allow a stepless lowering, similar to a coilover suspension.
Lowering by 5 - 30 millimeters
"While lowering springs only ever allow a predefined lowering, the threaded sleeves attached to the series damper and the screwable spring plate, as well as the height adjustment on the rear axle, make it possible to freely choose the lowering in a tested area“, Says KW Brand Manager Jonas Ehrmann. When changing the light alloy rims, the height-adjustable KW springs can be adjusted in depth so that the wheels fill the fenders more consistently and are thus more flexible when lowering the vehicle. The height-adjustable KW springs, which are available exclusively for the Audi RS6 Avant (C8, Type F2) with the optional Audi RS sports suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control, can be continuously lowered by 5 - 30 millimeters on both axles. The KW dust protection elements and additional KW elastomer spring elements included in the scope of delivery are always adapted to the greatest possible lowering with the threaded spring set.
KW coilover variant 4 soon available
With the height-adjustable KW springs, a sporty, harmonious driving behavior can be realized without the driving dynamics suffering in performance-oriented vehicles such as the Audi RS6. The spring rates harmonize with the various characteristic curves of the variable damper characteristics of the RS sports suspension plus and give the Audi RS6 (C8, type F2) a sporty, harmonious driving behavior. In every specialist workshop and tire dealer, the service technicians can replace the series springs with the KW springs with their threaded sleeves within a few working units. "During our development and test drives, we came to the conclusion that it is not possible to lower the vehicle more than 30 millimeters in conjunction with the adaptive RS sports suspension plus dampers. At more than 30 millimeters, the series dampers can no longer dampen in an optimal working area and the driving dynamics and driving comfort of the RS6 would be gone. If you want to go deeper than 30 millimeters, you should use our KW coilover Variant 2150 with the 6 kilogram RS4, which will appear shortly."
