BMW M GmbH's appearance at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed (June 23 to 26) is all about its 50th birthday. To mark the anniversary, BMW M is presenting numerous models from the past, present and future. This includes world premieres such as that of the first BMW M3 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car. Festival visitors are among the first to see the latest safety car from BMW M, the “Official Car of MotoGP™” since 1999, up close. The BMW M3 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car will also contest its first race in Great Britain, at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in early August.

The youngest member of the Safety Car fleet is based on the very first BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive, which also celebrates its world premiere in Goodwood. It combines the technological capability, performance and know-how of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 families with the practicality of a five-door touring model. Both cars, the production vehicle and the safety car, will be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on Thursday 23 June and then take part in the famous hillclimb race on all days of the festival.

"The world premiere of the new BMW M3 Touring is another highlight in our anniversary year, because for the very first time in our 50-year history we are presenting a BMW M3 as a touring model," says Franciscus van Meel, Managing Director of BMW M GmbH. “So it makes sense for us to include this new high-performance automobile in our fleet of MotoGP Safety Cars. In our decades-long partnership with MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports, it has always been of the utmost importance to us to put the latest BMW M models at the service of track safety, and with the BMW M3 Touring MotoGP Safety Car we continue this tradition. We are very much looking forward to seeing his performance at the legendary hillclimb at Goodwood and then later in action on the track in the premier class of motorcycle racing.”
