Placed directly between two icons of the JDM scene, the Nissan Skyline R33 not always easy. Its predecessor, the R32, and its direct successor, the R34, still outstrip it today in terms of popularity and value development. That's because the R33 never had a Movie car was, which, for example, played the leading role in the Fast and Furious series. The relatively short construction time of the series is also a reason why the Skyline R33, unlike its brothers, has not yet become the absolute icon of Japanese automobile construction. Now, however, we would like to introduce you to a specimen that is imported into the USA, and contemporary was tuned.

JDM tuning on the skyline!

The vehicle has been completely repainted and is now available in a color called KN6 Dark Gray Pearl. Likewise he got Nissan a front lip from Series 3, wider side skirts and a special hood from D.Speed. Owner and tuner Jimmy Kim also installed drilled and slotted DBA 4000 brake discs, Brembo brake calipers and a Cusco master cylinder. For the wheel set, he chose 10,5×19-inch Nismo LMGT2 rims, on which Continental Extreme Contact tires in 285/30ZR19 format were pulled.

For sportier handling, a Tein Mono-Flex chassis found its way into the Japanese classic and various changes were also made to the chassis. Sportiness dominates the interior! Braum sports bucket seats with integrated headrests, a Nismo tachometer and a custom center console lined entirely in carbon testify to the sporty appearance in the cockpit. Unfortunately we have no information regarding the infotainment and sound system.

613 HP provide powerful steam under the hood!

An RB26 engine with a displacement of 2,6 liters and two Garrett GT2860R turbochargers generates a whopping 613 HP and a massive 670 Newton meters of maximum torque. But there are many more modifications to the engine, such as modified pistons and connecting rods, sharper camshafts, a blow-off valve, a new oil cooler, a modified intercooler and so on. All in all, the changes ensure the fierce performance, which even clearly surpasses that of a current production GT-R R35. Unfortunately, we have no information on the performance, but the Skyline R33 should certainly be able to score on the drag strip.

Our conclusion:

  • A great project that shows that it doesn't always have to be just an R32 or R34 when it comes to Skyline tuning. Our kudos to US tuner Jimmy Kim for this masterpiece of the JDM tuning scene.
