AVA Electrifi creates Restomod based on a Dax Cobra!

Even automotive legends are no longer safe from electrification. For example, the Irish company AVA Electrifi, which is run by the entrepreneur Norman Crowley, made a Cobra to turn it into a so-called Electric mod to create. For many, this project is an absolute sacrilege, but Crowley has already converted various classics into vehicles with electric drive, including a Ferrari 308 GTB. For many Ferrari fans, this electric mod project would also be an absolute deadly sin, because the incomparable sound of a Ferrari V8 gasoline engine disappears in favor of a low whirring generated by an electric motor. But today we're going to take a closer look at the modified Cobra, which should split the minds of many car fans.

Classic shell, pioneering technology.

This model is not a real AC Cobra that has been converted into an electric roadster, but a Dax Cobra. This manufacturer was founded in Essex, UK in 1968 and was the first kit car manufacturer to sell a kit of a Cobra replica. More precisely, it was a kit of the AC 427 Cobra. The design of the Elektro-Cobra is anything but high-gloss, as you know it from the classic poisonous blows, but is very reminiscent of a barn find, because the dull gray finish with white elements, like the small rally stripes on the front, looks very rudimentary.

Many tuning fans have taken such a patina look into their hearts, which is why the paintwork of the Cobra should also find its fans. They are joined by alloy wheels in the classic multi-spoke look, which could also come from any series model, but give the Cobra an individual look. Normally you will find eye-catching chrome rims on this type of roadster, some with the sidepipes to shine in competition.

Speaking of sidepipes: thanks to the electric drive, these could be completely dispensed with, as was a windshield. The Cobra's centrally mounted exterior mirror, which is located to the left of the steering wheel on the right-hand side, also has a very puristic effect. This vehicle definitely attracts everyone's attention, even if of course you can't hear it because it is electrically operated.

Puristic interior with a racing atmosphere.

Apart from the comfortable looking ones bucket seats, which are lined with Alcantara, the narrow cockpit makes a sporty impression. Classic Round instruments, and a dished sports steering wheel, which looks like it is removable, give evidence of a racing atmosphere. Of course, all comfort goodies have to be dispensed with in favor of an optimal performance-to-weight ratio.

A 500 HP electric motor provides propulsion.

Unfortunately, we do not know anything about the performance and the acceleration of the venomous snake, as we only know that the classic is powered by an electric motor with about 500 PS is driven. According to the manufacturer, this guarantees over 20 minutes of fun on the racetrack, but unfortunately there is no information about the exact range. We immediately believe that the device is a lot of fun on the track and that the extremely sporty driving behavior does not allow any sound to be missed in the first place. From our point of view, however, it would also be interesting to see how such an electric weapon performs on the dragstrip, because on the quarter mile it should show the taillights of so many modern super athletes.

Our Conclusion to the electrically powered Dax Cobra from AVA Electrifi:

At first glance, the conversion looks bizarre, but on closer inspection, in our opinion, it even makes sense to create such a vehicle.
