Subaru's vision for the future: The Sport Mobility Concept!

This year's Japan Mobility Show 2023 has a special highlight: Subaru presented the futuristic Sports mobility concept. At first glance, the appearance of the vehicle was reminiscent of a UFO that had merged with a two-door coupé with narrow LED strips in front of the elongated hood. The stunning design is not only a tribute to Subaru's sporting heritage, but also a glimpse into the direction the company could be heading in terms of design and functionality. Although Subaru save direct references to the SVX from the 90s, the parallels are unmistakable.

The striking front blue accents on the covered air intake, on the aero rims and the side lines, as well as the coupe-shaped roofline, which merges into an angular, elegant rear, are reminiscent of the SVX. But the Sport Mobility Concept goes further: it combines the design of a coupé with the robustness of one Crossovers. The Sport Mobility Concept is not just a feast for the eyes. It was designed to “more freedom in mobility" to deliver. As a battery-electric vehicle, it promises to offer the driver a wonderful driving experience, no matter the conditions. With the clean, three-dimensional design based on large surfaces and minimal character lines, it conveys a feeling of adventure and driving pleasure.

the four wheels can be controlled individually

A special highlight is the ability to control all four wheels individually, which contributes to a pleasant, relaxed and safe ride. But in addition to the Sport Mobility Concept, there was another surprise: this Air Mobility Concept. Equipped with six rotors surrounding a small cockpit, it shows Subaru's vision of the Air mobility. It's another testament to Subaru's innovation, with engineers from aerospace and automotive joining forces. With these concepts, Subaru has sent a clear signal for the future. Even if the projects will not go into production, they provide a glimpse of what might await us in the coming years.
