Race premiere at the DTM Trophy for Toyota Gazoo Racing Germany!

This coming weekend (June 18-20) things will get serious for the newly founded Toyota Gazoo Racing Germany team: At the start of the season of the DTM Trophy, a framework series for the German Touring Car Masters (DTM), the team will experience its baptism of fire in the royal park of Monza. Here Nico Verdonck (35) from Belgium starts the first race in the Toyota GR Supra GT4. The team is a cooperation between Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe (TGR-E), Toyota Germany and the Ring Racing team. Driver and vehicle compete in the familiar Toyota Gazoo Racing colors.

Toyota Gazoo Racing Germany

Toyota Gazoo Racing Germany expects strong competition on the high-speed track in northern Italy. 23 GT sports cars from seven different brands have registered for the season opener, including a second GR Supra GT4. The blue-painted vehicle is also used by Ring Racing and is driven by the 27-year-old Dutchwoman Stéphane Kox. Both vehicles will fight for positions in two 30-minute sprint races on Saturday and Sunday starting at 15:15 p.m. A Balance of Performance (BoP) between the vehicles ensures equal opportunities and thrilling second-hand duels.

Toyota Gazoo Racing Germany will contest the entire season in the DTM Trophy, which includes seven racing weekends. In addition to the German races at the Lausitzring, Nürburgring and Hockenheimring as well as the season opener in Italy (Monza), the championship will also be held in Austria (Red Bull Ring) and the Netherlands (Assen).

GR Supra GT4 is based on the Toyota GR Supra

The GR Supra GT4 is based on the Toyota GR Supra, the first GR series model sold worldwide. The racing version was developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe (TGR-E) in Cologne for motorsport use. In return, the output of the three-liter in-line six-cylinder, which is ventilated by a twin-scroll turbocharger, increased to 320 kW (430 hp). A seven-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and mechanical locking differential transfers the power to the rear wheels.

The front diffuser and rear wing are made of natural composites and contribute to the low total weight of 1.350 kilograms. Like the production model, the GT4 racing car uses a MacPherson strut front axle; the rear wheels are guided by a multi-link axle. KW shock absorbers and Pirelli tires ensure a lot of grip and high driving stability, while racing brake calipers enable correspondingly late braking points. They have six pistons on the front axle and four pistons on the rear axle.

Of course, that wasn't the end of it!
