The Toyota GR Yaris (XP21) has been a sensational success in hot hatches since its launch in 2020. Equipped with a 1,6-liter turbo engine with three cylinders, which delivers a mighty 261 hp and 370 Nm ex works, it is in a sense an insider tip with regard to a potent speedster on the vehicle market. The standard 6-speed iMT manual transmission is also really good, although unfortunately there is no option for an automatic transmission. But an Italian tuning company has decided to change that. The company has developed a sequential 7-speed manual transmission for the power dwarf, which you installed in a road-legal GR Yaris. And it is now one of the fastest GR Yaris of the world. Of course, the new transmission alone does not make the Yaris much faster.
now with paddle shifters
But let's stay with the gearbox for a moment! It now has instead of the familiar gear lever on the center tunnel Carbon shift paddles behind the wheel and there was also a comprehensive upgrade for the engine. The engine was fully equipped with forged components, a MotecECU and through various other changes to the air supply, a Garrett turbocharger and a sports exhaust, the performance should be in the range of 500 to 600 hp.
Incidentally, the sequential transmission is manufactured by a company called X Shift and prices range from $10.000 to $15.000 depending on the options chosen. Thanks to the new transmission, the GR Yaris now sounds a little like a six-cylinder when shifting up and down, and the acceleration values of the photo vehicle can of course no longer be compared with the series. And that also applies to the optics.
a lot has also happened optically
The vehicle from the pictures is completely wrapped, there was a set of motorsport rims and that too Suspension is optimized. The little Japanese is through the new ones Chassis components significantly lower and should get one or two tenths out of it, especially on the race track. Lots of little details Yaris such as the yellow headlights, an apparently revised sports brake system and changes in the cabin round off the tuning impressively.
