It doesn't get much more international than that. This KTM custom bike with the design of an Italian super athlete comes from Saurav Verma, a student at the National Institute of Design, one of the most renowned design schools in India. The bike was submitted by the young designer as a final project and received great applause. The bike, which looks set to go into mass production, is based on the KTMRC390 and the entire body was redesigned by Saurav Verma. We would now like to present this extraordinary project to you.
Aggressive and muscular design!
Similarities to an MV Agusta F4 can't be denied, but the designer didn't feel primarily inspired by the Italian superbike, instead trying to transfer the squinted face of a hawk to the creation. The front apron and large parts of the fairing are reminiscent of a bird of prey body, while the LED headlight is enthroned like an evil-looking eye in the middle of the bow. Only the color scheme remained from the production model, as the fairing, which is made of fiber-reinforced plastic, was designed from the ground up at the drawing board.
The windscreen comes from a Honda CBR250R and was taken over unchanged from the Japanese classic. There is a rear light at the rear, which attracts a lot of attention with the split optics and from our point of view looks extremely cool, especially at night. The rear swingarm, exhaust pipe and tires have not been changed compared to the standard KTM, but the orange main stand is a feast for the eyes. In addition, there are the new rims with a turbine look, which shine with a black finish and are designed more discreetly than the standard orange wheels.
373 cubic centimeters are enough for driving pleasure!
A water-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke petrol engine generates at least 44 hp & 35 Newton meters of maximum torque from a little more than a standard beverage can displacement. The driving performance is impressive, because it goes from 5,3 to 0 km/h in just 100 seconds and only reaches the end of the road at 160 kilometers per hour. The KTM also owes its good sprint values to the low weight of less than 170 kilograms in the standard version. Unfortunately, we don't know how much weight was saved or added by the new custom fairing.
Our conclusion:
- A fantastic design project, which shows the diverse modification possibilities of KTM motorcycles. We are thrilled with so much creativity and give it a thumbs up.
