2022 Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid: experience new horizons!

It's been four decades since the original XT600 Ténéré made real adventures possible for everyone. This Ur-Ténéré was developed on the basis of the Yamaha Dakar racing motorcycles. It opened up a new world for the adventurous and made it possible for the driver to break out of the comfort zone and discover new, faraway places. Since then, the Ténéré has been the travel companion for many thousands of riders from all over the world. Of course, the Ténéré has constantly evolved during this time. Recently, the launch of the Ténéré 700 caused quite a stir. She encouraged a new generation of riders to aim for new horizons.

Within a very short time, the Ténéré 700 became an international success. Its strengths are the high-torque CP2 engine, versatile chassis and exemplary durability and reliability. It is a worthy successor to the original bike that changed motorcycling so profoundly. Even professional riders like multiple world circumnavigator Nick Sanders or extreme enduro star Pol Tarrés are convinced of this versatile adventure bike. Following the great success of the Ténéré 700 and the Ténéré 700 Rally Edition, Yamaha is now introducing the ultimate adventure bike for long-distance travelers. It offers adventurers completely new possibilities.

The new Ténéré 700 World Raid: Experience new horizons

Yamaha opens up a new dimension of adventure travel with the new Ténéré 700 World Raid. It is a premium endurance motorcycle that offers excellent properties both on and off-road. The newest member of the Ténéré 700 family gives all types of riders the chance to live out their dreams. It invites you to rediscover the freedom that motorcycling is all about. With its features, the Ténéré 700 World Raid surpasses all previous Ténéré models. It has a state-of-the-art chassis, optimal ergonomics, a rally-inspired design and a multi-mode cockpit with connectivity. It's a motorcycle that makes the world seem a lot smaller.

Two side-mounted fuel tanks with a total capacity of 23 liters

The Ténéré 700 World Raid is Yamaha's most extreme endurance adventure bike. It allows the rider to have more adventures than ever before. However, one thing that every long-distance driver has in mind is the availability of fuel in remote areas. The new 23 liter side-mounted fuel tanks provide relaxation on long journeys and eliminate range worries. Under normal conditions, these new tanks allow a range of up to 500 km. This makes the Ténéré 700 World Raid a true champion of the wild.

When it comes to increasing capacity, the unique, double-sided tank layout offers a number of significant advantages over simply raising and widening a single tank. With two separate, lower tanks and a fuel pump positioned further down in one of the tanks, the motorcycle's center of gravity can be kept almost at the same level as on the Ténéré 700 with its 16 liter tank. This helps to maintain the agile handling despite the higher weight due to the larger fuel supply. This centralizes the vehicle mass even further – with an ideal wheel load distribution of the weight.

An important feature of this new design is that the highest point of the new twin side tanks is lower than that of the Ténéré 700 tank, reducing the height difference between the tank and the seat. The flatter profile allows the rider to move much better and shift their weight when riding off-road. Another benefit of this dual tank design is that movement of the fuel is reduced compared to a large tank. This is particularly advantageous when cornering. Finally, the Ténéré 700 World Raid's twin side-mounted fuel tanks aren't just a nod to the bike's desert rally heritage. Rather, they are clear proof that this new adventure model shares large parts of the DNA with some of the most successful Yamaha factory bikes.

Flat seat for better rider mobility

In addition to the lower height of the new double tank, the Ténéré 700 World Raid also offers a seat height of just 890 mm. Thanks to the smoother transition between tank and seat, the profile is significantly flatter. This design allows the driver to shift weight with minimal effort and thus always have optimal control in the field. The new ergonomics are equally perfect for riding while sitting or standing. The seat is in two parts. The back part can be easily removed. This allows accessories to be mounted, for example a luggage rack. The seat consists of two different rough materials, which contributes to the best possible handling.

5 inch TFT color display with mobile connectivity

The new 5-inch TFT color display is connected to the motorcycle's Communication Control Unit (CCU), which communicates with the MyRide app. It ensures connectivity in the form of text message and incoming call notifications displayed in the cockpit. The drivers of the Ténéré 700 World Raid can choose from three different displays on the new 5 inch TFT color display. The 'Explorer' screen layout features a modern, digital design that displays all of the motorcycle's key operating data in a contemporary and easy-to-read format. The "Street" screen features a tachometer as a circular instrument and evokes the traditional look of the analogue era. The “Raid” mode is inspired by a typical rallying road book. With its two independent countdown tripmeters, it shows the driver the distance to the next waypoint. On the right side of the cockpit there is a type A USB port, which can be used to operate navigation systems or charge mobile devices.

Three-mode on/off-road ABS

The new Ténéré 700 World Raid is equipped with ABS, the three modes of which can be selected when stationary using a dedicated menu in the cockpit and a switch on the right-hand handlebar. This ensures optimal control in changing driving conditions. Mode 1 fully activates ABS on both wheels, as required by law when driving on public roads. Modes 2 and 3 can be selected for driving on non-public roads. In mode 2 (a new development for the Ténéré 700 World Raid), the ABS is active on the front wheel and switched off on the rear wheel. This mode is recommended, for example, for gravel roads where little grip is to be expected. Mode 3 turns ABS off completely. It is suitable for experienced drivers who want to enjoy off-road driving to the full. The cockpit will indicate if mode 2 or mode 3 is active. The driver can instantly return to Mode 1 at any time by pressing a button on the left side of the cockpit - whether while driving or stationary.

High-quality 43 mm KYB upside-down telescopic fork with 230 mm travel

The chassis of the Ténéré 700 World Raid offers a number of important features that improve off-road handling. The newly developed 43 mm KYB telescopic fork offers 230 mm of travel - that's 20 mm more than on the Ténéré 700. This ensures increased damping capacity off-road. In addition to the adjusters for rebound and compression damping and the bleed screw that are already available on the Ténéré 700, the new fork also offers adjustable spring preload. It allows the rider to adjust the suspension to different terrain conditions and loads. The 43mm telescopic fork with longer travel and reduced internal friction has a durable Kashima coating on the outer tube, which stands out with a dark bronze color. Lightweight components are used inside the fork to minimize weight despite the longer travel.

Ohlins steering damper

For improved control - especially off-road - there is an Öhlins steering damper as standard. The steering damper is mounted near the top triple clamp. This allows the driver to quickly select one of 18 different damping settings and determine their preferred level of steering feel and feedback on different terrain.

Aluminum high-tech shock absorber with reservoir and 220 mm travel

The rear wheel suspension has also been revised in line with the new telescopic fork and now has a modified deflection and a shock absorber with a longer stroke and expansion tank. The damping characteristics of the rear wheel suspension, the spring rate and the transmission ratio of the linkage have been optimized. No compromises have to be made: relaxed driving on the road is just as possible as tough off-road use. For constant damping performance, the new shock absorber has an aluminum body that ensures good heat dissipation. The separate oil reservoir with expansion tank prevents the formation of vapor locks. Like the fork, the new rear shock offers 20mm more travel and the ability to adjust spring preload as well as compression and rebound damping.

High-torque CP2 motor

Yamaha's legendary liquid-cooled 689cc inline-twin engine powers the new Ténéré 700 World Raid. The CP2 engine, with its 270° crankshaft, which provides the characteristic uneven firing order, is known for its strong, linear torque as well as its extremely spontaneous response with easily controlled power delivery.

The compact dimensions and light weight make the CP2 unit ideal for the demands and needs of adventure riders. With its linear torque development, which provides plenty of pressure in the low and medium speed range, this robust, reliable and economical engine is particularly suitable for the change between road and off-road - which is typical for adventure driving. This engine has already proven itself in the top-selling Ténéré 700. He is considered one of the most ingenious drives from Yamaha. Since its launch, more than 221.000 CP2-powered motorcycles have been sold.

Air filter box of the Ténéré 700

The Ténéré 700 family has a new air filter box specially designed for extreme off-road conditions. The Ténéré's new airbox has a forward-facing air intake duct. It is intended to prevent the ingress of dust and dirt thrown up by the rear wheel.

Higher windscreen, easily removable side wind deflectors, LED indicators and front fairing

For added wind protection on long-distance adventures, the bike is fitted with a 15mm taller screen. Also on board as standard are easily removable side wind deflectors and LED indicators. The radiator panels and the interior paneling in the cockpit area are made of robust fiberglass composite material. They also withstand tough off-road use.

Bigger footpegs

The Yamaha designers have uncompromisingly developed the Ténéré 700 World Raid at the highest level. New, larger footpegs underscore this attention to detail. The larger surface area provides more grip for the rider's boots, reducing pressure on the soles when riding in extreme terrain. A larger surface area also prevents mud and sand from building up. The removable rubber inserts improve the grip of the boots on the footpegs when wet.

New three-piece aluminum engine guard

For better protection when riding off-road, the motorcycle received a new, three-piece aluminum engine guard. Thanks to the new spring elements with longer spring travel, the ground clearance is now 250 mm.

New grille

A new radiator grille is used to ensure that the radiator maintains its high cooling performance off-road. This new grille features vertical slats similar to those found on Yamaha's competition off-road models. It protects the radiator from flying stones.
