Especially for e-buses: Eberspächer presents new air conditioning!

Eberspächer brings with him AC138 EVO platform an innovative one Rooftop air conditioning primarily for hybrid and battery-electric buses on the market. The new miracle of technology is based on a patented one heat pump technology the company. Eberspächer has big plans for this and emphasizes that the air conditioning system has to contend with less system complexity and also scores with optimal energy efficiency. But Eberspächer goes one step further and provides the system in two versions for different bus formats, city buses and coaches. But what are the details? Although both models differ in dimensions, they are technical twins that have impressive features 35 kW cooling and 24 kW heat output have and each 325 kg put on the scales.

Even old-school buses with combustion engines can benefit from the thermal management system. And Eberspächer also gives us a little insight into the inner workings of the climate. They emphasize: “The technology behind air conditioning is revolutionary. It is the software that regulates the Air flaps takes over and thus leads to an impressive weight loss 50 kg contributes. Not to forget the sophisticated integrated Exhaust function enables energy recovery that is worth its weight in gold. And thanks to the independent control of the air flaps, it always stays comfortably warm or pleasantly cool, depending on your preference.“First, the system uses the environmentally friendly refrigerant CO₂, R744, debut. But Eberspächer has further plans in the pipeline, with refrigerants such as propane in direct evaporation. This also deserves special attention E-control system by Eberspächer.

Digital service e-connected: Eberspächer's cloud-based digital service platform

Both the hardware and the software have been developed in-house and are intended to provide customers with a individual adaptation or even one Reprogramming make possible. About the CAN interface The connection is established between the E-Control Box and the customer system in order to regulate the climate in the bus from A to Z. And it seems that interest in the climate miracle has already been piqued. An unnamed “leading international manufacturer” has already awarded Eberspächer the contract to use the AC138 EVO in a fully electric city bus from 2025. Photo credit/source: Eberspächer
