  • You need a long one Schnur. Make sure you find a string at least 90 cm long, this can be a thin rope or yarn. If you don't have this, yours will do in an emergency shoelace.
  • In the middle of the cord tie a so-called slip knot. To do this, you need to form a loop and then pass one side of the cord through it. About 13 cm further, you then form such a loop again using the same method. Then pull the second loop through the first, then pull the loose end of the cord so that the resulting knot is tight. The result is a knot that can be tightened by pulling on one side.
  • The cord must now be in the corner of the door. To do this, hold the cord with both hands on the upper left area of the door and wiggle it back and forth. You have to do this until the cord is inside the car. Of course, a small gap between the door frame and the vehicle roof must first be created with a wedge or an inflatable balloon.

  • Now position the loop around the pin. You need to position the loop so the center of the cord is close enough to the buckle. This may require some finesse until the loop in the slip knot hangs well over the lock. Then carefully slip the loop over the button.
  • To tighten the loop, pull the end of the string, so that it fits as tightly as possible around the button. Incidentally, cars with an older year of manufacture can be marked significantly with this method be easier to open.
  • To unlock the lock, pull the cord up. Now let go of one end of the string and pull the upper end of the string to be able to open the door lock. The door should now open and you will get your keys again.

Picking a lock with a coat hanger

  • Make sure you get a hanger and try this one to bend as straight as possible. The longer the shackle the better as it makes opening the door lock easier.
  • One side of the temple needs to be bent into a V-shape (small). Now slide the V-side of the shackle into the car and put the V around the lock. The curved side should be large enough so that it is easy to wrap the shackle around the lock. The V side of the bracket must between window and rubber seal be pushed. This may take a while, move the hanger back and forth until you can slide it in between.
  • Be careful when doing this, or you risk damaging the window's rubber seal. If that doesn't work, use a wedge or balloon to create a tiny gap.
  • Now you have to wiggle the hanger back and forth until it hooks onto the handle. You can usually find the lock mechanism above the door handle. It may take a few tries before you can do this.
  • To unlock the lock, pull the shackle up. Be sure the shackle is properly hooked. Then you can pull the bar up and the car will unlock.

call for help

  • Look that you have one locksmith find near you. If you don't have internet, the information on 11880 or 11833 will help you with your search. Now call the locksmith and ask in advance what the order costsso you know about it beforehand. Then you can send him to the car.
  • Roadside assistance can also help. The breakdown service has the right tools to gently open your car without damaging it. If you have a breakdown service you know, their phone number should be on their business card.
  • The police can help you. The police also have suitable tools to safely open your locked car. However, not every service point will respond to your call unless there is danger from the car or the engine is still running. However, if necessary, try to contact the police to make sure they can help you or not.
  • If you see a police patrol in your area, you can also ask them if they can help you, it might be worth it.
  • Auto theft is a criminal offense. This guide is only intended to be used on cars that you own.
