Environmental sticker / fine dust sticker - all information!

Many people find the daily traffic noise quite annoying. And it is often not possible to escape the exhaust and noise pollution in any way. After all, not everyone has the opportunity to live in a rural area. However, every driver can have a great influence on the nature of the environmental pollution and the background noise through his own behavior. This is possible, for example, by consciously driving at a low engine speed, avoiding unnecessary honking, very loud music and letting the engine run. Unnecessary annoyances can also be generated by cavalier starts.

Regulations on the StVO

During the road traffic regulations all regulations are summarized, which the driver must adhere to. Otherwise, road users face the consequences of fines. In addition, care should always be taken to use the correct environmental badge. There are now around 50 environmental zones in Germany that can only be entered with the green environmental badge, for example. The environmental badge was launched in 2008. It is currently being updated come differentiated between different pollutant groups. The step system takes the form of green, yellow or red Badges. When using the badges, it is important that the combination of license plates on the badge and the number plate of the vehicle match. Some of the badges can be ordered online or purchased from the local Dekra, TÜV, local authorities or the vehicle registration office.

Euro 3 vehicles and Euro 2 models with one Particle Filter- Get the retrofit yellow Environmental badge. These vehicles belong to pollutant group 3. The red Badges will be given to Euro 1 vehicles with a particle filter or Euro 2 models. These vehicles are assigned to pollutant group 2. Receive Euro 1 vehicles save Plaque. Blue environmental badge for Euro 6 diesel?

Environmental sticker / fine dust sticker - all information!

For some time now, the Federal Environment Agency has been thinking about introducing two more environmental badges / fine dust badges to mark vehicles that emit particularly little nitrogen oxide. And one light blue for retrofitted EURO 5 diesel and for already approved EURO 6 diesel vehicles and one dark blue for the latest diesel vehicles of the classes EURO 6 and 6-Temp. For the dark blue badge, it is provided that this is only required in relatively small and particularly heavily polluted areas. Will the environmental badge for Euro 6 diesel soon turn blue? While the red, yellow and green badge was introduced to fight the fine dust pollution in the big cities, the blue environmental badge should act against nitrogen oxides. Vehicles with particularly low emissions could receive the blue fine dust sticker.

  • Diesel vehicles with the Euro 6 emissions standard (from 2015)
  • Gasoline vehicles with the Euro 3 emissions standard
  • electric vehicles

Retrofitting the blue badge almost impossible

If you want to retrofit an older vehicle, the effort of retrofitting would simply not be justifiable. Here it would not be a soot particle filter like converting from yellow to green or red to yellow. A separate nitrogen oxide emission control and even an additional catalytic converter AND a new engine control would have to be installed. After all, Euro 6 vehicles can only emit 80 milligrams of nitrogen oxide per kilometer.

Penalties and fines

A violation of the environmental zones can result in a fine of 80 euros. To the change in the point system however, no point is calculated in Flensburg for this offense. Anyone who drives without a badge also commits an infringement and will be fined. As a rule, it is the fact that an environmental zone was entered despite the traffic ban in favor of reducing harmful air pollution. A penalty not only threatens when driving, but also when parking in an environmental zone without a corresponding badge. Environmental badges should always be clearly visible behind the windshield.

Higher penalties for novice drivers

Anyone who is still in the driver's license trial period should be particularly careful. Failure to observe the environmental zone will result in a higher penalty. If it is an A or two B violations, there is a fine of at least 40 euros. In addition, the trial period is extended and the novice driver's license must take part in an advanced seminar. If there is multiple disregard, the withdrawal of the driving licence kommen.
