The poker love of Formula 1 drivers!

Thanks to various media, it is not uncommon for us to realize that many Formula 1 greats not only push their limits on the track, but also off it. Formula 1 drivers practically feed on adrenaline and many Formula 1 stars satisfy this need, for example by playing poker. It has been known for a long time that, especially during the Monaco Grand Prix, many drivers went to the Casino de Monte Carlo to play against each other and with each other. But for some Formula 1 drivers, their love of poker goes even further. Eddie Irvine and Tonio Liuzzi, among others, took part in a televised poker tournament in 2009, of which there is no longer any film footage. In addition to the Formula 1 drivers mentioned, there are many other active and inactive drivers who often spend their free time playing the popular card game.

Michael Schumacher, the ultimate Formula 1 legend

A particular example of this is the untouchable German Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher. Nothing more needs to be said about him as Michael Schumacher, with his seven world championship titles in Formula 1, is one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time. But he has not only proven his skills on the racetrack for a long time, but also at poker. So Schuhmacher also took part in charity tournaments during his active years, where he often competed against his competitors, but then not armed with a Formula 1 car, but with playing cards. According to media reports, he also liked to spend his free time playing poker.

Robert Kubica, the only Polish Formula 1 driver to date

Not to be forgotten is the Polish Formula 1 great Robert Kubica. As the only Polish Formula 1 driver to date, driving for BMW, Renault and Williams and taking first place at the Canadian Grand Prix in 2008, he too has a love of poker. In fact, Robert Kubica is considered one of the best poker players when it comes to the various Formula 1 drivers. He himself was always a little more down-to-earth and described his own performance as "not good". He started playing poker early in life and his love for the game did not fade during his active Formula 1 career. Robert Kubica suffered a serious accident in 2011, and as part of his recovery he has continued to play professional poker tournaments. In the meantime, however, Robert Kubica no longer plays.

Giancarlo "Fisi" Fisichella

Another great name in Formula 1 history is undoubtedly Italian driver Giancarlo Fisichella. Fisichella, also known by the nickname "Fisi", drove for a total of 6 different Formula 1 teams. These included Ferrari, Jordan and Renault, among others. Admittedly, Fisichella, like many other Formula 1 drivers of his time, always lived somewhat in the shadow of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher. Nevertheless, the Italian former Formula 1 driver can look back on a total of three victories in Formula 1 and participation in over 200 races. When it came to poker, Fisichella was not unknown either, as he always played in various professional tournaments. Among other things, he took part in the big event “Crown Casino” in 2009. This is a major poker tournament in Melbourne, Australia.

Lewis Hamilton from England

Last but not least, the currently most successful Formula 1 driver should not be missing. We're talking about Lewis Hamilton, whose pure market value is estimated at almost 300 million dollars. The English Formula 1 driver, for example, took part in the GGPoker High Rollers Week and was willing to pay an amount of $10.300 just to take part. The tournament had at least $1,25 million up for grabs. However, the six-time Formula 1 world champion went away empty-handed at the tournament and ended up in 130th place out of a total of 113 participants.
