Sold out: 500 pieces Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA sold!

The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA, which was unveiled last May, is a collector's vehicle in every way. The 500 numbered copies have now been sold to customers around the world, including a considerable number in China, Japan and Australia. This makes the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA a commercial success on an international level. The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA project is a story of real passion, a project with a strong emotional element. The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA is a special model not only for fans of the brand, but also for all lovers of sports cars in general. When Alfa Romeo decided to design a special model for its own 110th birthday, the choice immediately fell on the Giulia GTA from 1965. The coupé, which was designed as a homologation model for use in motorsport, is one of the most iconic and successful vehicles in Alfa Romeo's history .

Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA from 1965 as inspiration

Autodelta, the racing department of Alfa Romeo in those years, developed the Giulia GTA model in Balocco in 1965, then as now the brand's test and development center. There, a team of dedicated mechanics worked countless hours of overtime to transform what is now an iconic model into a victorious racing car.

The team that developed today's Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA also worked in an unconventional way on the project that will relive a memorable chapter in Alfa Romeo's great history. The engineers and technicians started the project with the code name “Monster” at the same place where the first Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA was built in 1965 - in Balocco. To further honor this legacy, the current Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA proudly bears the same plaque with the Autodelta logo. The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA from 1965 was produced in a number of 500 copies, which was necessary for approval for touring car races in the so-called Group 2. The same number of exclusive copies of the new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA were now available to fans of the brand.

The relationship between the historical and current Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA goes even further. It also extends to the technical side of the project. To reduce weight - called alleggerimento in Italian and part of the legendary GTA as the letter A - both models have specific features. The 1965 Giulia GTA had magnesium rims. Your current successor is delivered with wheels with central locking - this technology, which is also used in Formula 1, is a unique solution for a sedan that is approved for road traffic.

extremely light materials everywhere

Also noteworthy are the extremely light materials used for the body in both cases. In 1965, the outer body of the Giulia GTA was made of Peraluman 25, an alloy of aluminum and magnesium originally developed for aircraft. Large parts of the body of the current Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA are made of carbon fiber.

Another relationship exists in the area of aerodynamics. The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA from 1965 had air inlets that differed greatly from the production model used as the basis. The same applies to the current Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA. Their aerodynamics were developed in collaboration with Sauber Engineering. The Swiss company benefits from 50 years of experience in motorsport and has one of the most modern wind tunnels in Europe. Sauber Engineering was involved in the development and prototype production; the company now produces aerodynamic components for the finished special model.

One last thing the two models have in common is the support of the project by professional racing drivers. Teodoro Zeccoli and Andrea de Adamich were involved in the development of the 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and then celebrated numerous successes with this model on the racetrack. Aerodynamic components and chassis tuning of the current Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA were created with the participation of Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Räikkönen. The two drivers of the Formula 1 team Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN undertook extensive test drives in Balocco with development models of the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and provided the engineers with valuable information.

functional beauty

The same development strategy as in 1965 has carried over into the 21st century a special feature that has always been the hallmark of Alfa Romeo vehicle models: functional beauty. The current Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA also has a unique design that is based on the combination of form and function. Only if the design and functionality of a vehicle also conform to an overarching principle of beauty will it last. The new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA embodies this maxim in perfection.
