Renault 5 widebody? The electric Alpine A290_β study!

Alpine, Renault's sporty subsidiary, plans to launch the first of three electric cars in 2024, with which the brand aims to renew its positioning. A study that is already close to series production already gives a first glimpse of the future vehicle. Currently, Alpine's current A110 model competes with sports cars such as the Porsche 718 or the Lotus Emira. The new electric car, previously under the code name A290_ß out, but will be designed as a sporty small car. The basis for the electric vehicle is the 4,05 meter long Renault R5, which Renault will launch as an electric car later this year.

In contrast to the production model, the Alpine version of the R5 is fitted with two electric motors on the front axle, whose output is estimated by a company spokesman at 220 kW/300 hp. By pressing a button on the steering wheel, the power can be increased even further for a short time. According to Alpine, the exterior of the study is already close to the production model, but the designers are (still) giving free rein to their creativity in the interior. They are experimenting with three offset carbon seats for the centrally placed driver and his slightly offset passengers. However, Alpine directly states that this solution is guaranteed not to make it into series production.

no technical data known yet

Alpine has not yet commented specifically on the technical data for the first electric car. However, the French are already talking openly about the other two planned models: a crossover in the compact class is to follow in 2025, before an electric sports car developed jointly with Lotus will replace the current A2026 coupe in 110. We are excited! If we get more information, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed about this if you simply use our Feed subscribe to.
