Now also open: Ferrari SF90 Spider (2021) presented!

Ferrari has decided to offer the SF90 plug-in hybrid as an open Spider version with a hardtop. Yesterday you unveiled the SF90 Spider at an online event. And the Spider, like the Coupe, is even available in an Assetto Fiorano version for the racetrack. Then there are special shock absorbers, a weight 21 kilograms lower due to the use of lightweight materials such as carbon and titanium, a rear spoiler made of carbon, special racing tires and a striking bicolor look. Just everything open. For the roof, Ferrari basically relies on the well-known retractable hard-top technology from the 458 Spider. It has been around since 2011 and is designed to keep noise and rain out optimally. In addition, the roof supposedly does not deform at high speed. It can be opened and closed in 14 seconds each and can also be operated while driving.

And the open version of the SF90 also shows the V8 under a transparent cover at the rear, which is only possible because the roof only takes up 100 liters of volume. Other systems usually have a capacity of 150 to 200 liters. And the construction is pretty easy too. The dry weight of the SF90 Spider is only 1.670 kilograms. The well-known plug-in system with a 780 hp turbo V8 and three electric motors (two of them on the front axle, one on the rear axle) of course no effort. After all, this creates an insane system output of 1.000 hp. The driver does not notice anything about the cooperation between the four engines. This is regulated automatically by the system. You only choose one of the modes with the eManettino (eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, Qualify) and the eight-speed dual clutch transmission and all-wheel drive get busy.

Tempo 100 in just 2,5 seconds

Armed in this way, the sprint to 100 km / h can be achieved in just 2,5 seconds and the 200 mark is reached in just 7,0 seconds. Ferrari, on the other hand, specifies the maximum speed at 340 km / h. Incidentally, the new torque vectoring is no longer called RAC-e (Regulatore Assetto Curva Elettrico), but bears the name eSSC and is improved. The system regulates the distribution of power between the two front wheels in the curve and the technology is intended to improve traction, especially when accelerating out of the curve. Similar to the Coupe, the aerodynamics of the Spider also deliver a maximum downforce of 390 kilograms at 250 kilometers per hour and the open version also has the shut-off Gurney system as an active system at the rear.

Prices and market launch unknown so far

Shut-off Gurney directs the airflow over the top of the body and there were also rims with a very special shape. Inside, however, everything from the coupe is known. The Spider has the SF90 steering wheel with touchpad from the Coupé, the instruments can also be seen here as a curved 16-inch display and, of course, all displays can be individually configured even in the open temptation. Only the price and the exact market launch are not yet known. Why? Because Ferrari always does that! If we get more information about the changes to the Ferrari SF90 Spider, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed of this if you simply do ours Feed subscribe to.
