For the two electric vehicles Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y, the KW V3 leveling chassis with parts certificate is now available. With this suspension made of stainless steel, KW automotive combines the driving dynamics and driving comfort of its popular KW V3 coilover suspension with an almost original standard ground clearance. With the individually adjustable compression and rebound stages, more sporty ride comfort or a plus in sporty handling can be selected individually. The standard ground clearance of the Tesla Model 3 and the Tesla Model Y can be increased by five millimeters on the stainless steel spring struts on the front axle and the rear axle height adjustment. Alternatively, a subtle, continuously selectable lowering from zero to 20 millimeters is possible with the KW V3 leveling chassis on both axles. KW V3 leveling chassis
In recent years, the entire aftermarket and tuning accessories market has changed significantly. More and more automobile manufacturers have long been successfully offering various components such as chassis, wheels, spoilers and more directly. For example, the chassis manufacturer KW automotive develops and manufactures original equipment chassis for selected special models for various automobile manufacturers. KW also builds optionally available accessory chassis for premium automobile manufacturers. Since 2019, another trend has come directly from the aftermarket. The demand for accessories for electric vehicles is increasing. KW automotive already offers various coilover kits for electric cars and electric SUVs such as Cupra Born, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Polestar II, Skoda Enyaq iV, Smart EQ fortwo, VW e-up!, VW ID 3 as well as Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y on.

"With the KW V3 Leveling Suspensions, the focus is on the sporty driving comfort and the increased handling on poorly developed secondary roads and traffic routes as well as maintaining the standard ground clearance," says KW Brand Manager Sascha Daucher, describing the new KW V3 Leveling Suspensions, with which KW automotive is " Street Comfort” product category. “Compared to other vehicles, the Model 3 has a long wheelbase and relatively little ground clearance. For many, our KW V3 coilover kit in the Model 3 is apparently too low and so we responded to the multiple requests from the Tesla community for a chassis that does not offer maximum lowering, but still convinces in terms of driving dynamics and driving comfort like a KW coilover kit. So to speak, with the KW V3 Leveling we are creating an inconspicuous sports suspension.”
The damper housing and spring struts of the KW V3 leveling chassis are also made of stainless steel. The ground clearance is adjusted directly on the spring struts and the height adjustment. If desired, the standard ground clearance can be increased by five millimeters on both driven axles as part of the parts certificate, while the stepless adjustment range for the lowering is a maximum of 20 millimeters. With the well-known KW V3 coilover kit, on the other hand, the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y with all-wheel drive can be lowered by 5 to 50 millimeters. Like the KW V3 coilover kit, the multi-valve dampers in the compression and rebound stages can be manually adjusted separately on the KW V3 leveling kits. With 16 click levels, a low-speed bypass channel in the rebound valve can be opened or closed in order to adjust the rebound and compression to a certain degree. For example, this can be used to influence how quickly the chassis rebounds when the springs are compressed when the load changes.

Irrespective of this, the cross-section of the low-speed compression valve can be reduced or enlarged with twelve click stages in order to further fine-tune the damping. The manually adjustable dampers can be used to specifically influence the shaking of the Tesla body when turning in and pitching when braking and accelerating. "In addition to the option of adjusting the suspension setup to one's own riding preferences, suspensions with multi-valve technology dampen much more harmoniously. In addition, we can already take into account a much broader range of characteristics for the damping during chassis development when designing the V3 leveling chassis.
This gives us a lot more leeway in advance for the best possible compromise between driving dynamics and driving comfort. The entire basic tuning of the dampers, suspension springs and suspension travel of the KW V3 Leveling suspension is designed much more for rolling comfort and direct handling than with sports suspensions," continues Sascha Daucher. The recommended retail price for the KW V3 leveling chassis for Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y is around €2.711.
