The current Hyundai i20 N (BC3) is one of the sportiest vehicles in its segment. The KW V204 coilover suspension, which can be independently adjusted in compression and rebound, is now available for the 3 hp small car. Compared to the very sporty Hyundai i20 N standard chassis, the KW V3 gives the small car convincing residual driving comfort paired with a significant increase in driving dynamics. This is made possible by the multi-valve damper technology used in the KW coilover kit. Even with a maximum lowering, the KW V3 dampens harmoniously in everyday life and gives the Hyundai i20 N precise handling. The parts certificate for the KW V3 coilover kit covers an additional adjustable lowering of 20 to 10 millimeters on the drive axle and rear axle in the i30 N, which is already lowered ex works. The recommended retail price for the KW V3 coilover kit is 2.008 euros.
KW V3 coilover suspension
Across all vehicle types, the KW V3 coilover kit has developed into the best-selling application of the chassis manufacturer in recent years. The stainless steel coilover kit in the Hyundai i20 N (BC3) also offers far more than the possibility of a maximum and continuously adjustable lowering. "Compared to many other suspensions in the aftermarket and tuning segment, our coilovers with their adjustable multi-valve technology offer the best possible compromise between sporty handling and driving comfort," says KW Brand Manager Florian Johann. If the preset KW suspension setup is too comfortable or too tight for one or the other driver, the damping in the low-speed range of the compression and rebound stages can be individually adjusted with just a few simple steps on the KW V3. There are twelve clicks to choose from for low-speed compression and 16 clicks for low-speed rebound. On the other hand, the high-speed valves, which are only activated when the piston rod moves quickly, cannot be adjusted on the KW V3.
Sporty, harmonious damping even on poorly maintained secondary roads
The low-speed rebound affects handling and ride comfort when driving slowly. Adjustments to the compression damping mainly affect the pitching and rolling movements of the body and the steering behavior. If the valves are opened, the low-speed compression stage is reduced and the vehicle dives in faster when steering movements. If the compression level is increased, the piston rod dips more slowly. The Hyundai i20N acts all the more directly when steering. "The tighter the compression and rebound are set, the more precise the steering behavior and body support become," explains KW Brand Manager Florian Johann. "At very high vertical wheel accelerations, the high-speed valves preconfigured in the damper production in the KW V3 open and the wheels can deflect when crossing bridge transverse joints or bumps." Anyone who has installed a KW V3 coilover kit in a current vehicle such as the Hyundai i20 N will be amazed be how sporty the small car drives and has a much more harmonious and comfortable driving behavior than with a conventional chassis.
The KW V3 coilover kit is available for the Hyundai i20 N (BC3) from 2.008 euros. The parts certificate covers a stepless lowering of 10 to 30 millimeters on both axles. A KW V20 Clubsport coilover kit with racetrack tuning and motorsport components will soon be available for the Hyundai i3 N if the 204 hp small car is to be driven regularly at track days.
