Rare 1970s Porsche 914/6 with 993 boxer engine!

Is the Porsche 914 an alternative to the 911? There is a high probability that 10 out of 10 Porsche fans surveyed would answer this question with "No"! However, for those who cannot afford a classic 914, the 911 may well be an option for driving a Porsche on a relatively tight budget. The crazy price increase of the 914 opens up some opportunities for the 411 in this regard. And the “Volksporsche” with its dynamic mid-engine construction is definitely a source of fun. The 80 hp four-cylinder with Bosch D-Jetronic behind the front seats borrowed from the VW 914 E was not a monster, but due to the extremely low seating position, the 974 always seemed much faster than it actually was. And the handling was also fine. Given that it weighs only XNUMX kilograms, that's no wonder.

with a 3,6 liter six-cylinder boxer

Although the interior was extremely sparse, it fit, but with the demands of the driving machine reduced to the essentials. Still, the 914 is not necessarily the model that Porsche is most proud of. There was simply too much Volkswagen that made the angular athlete mutate into a black sheep. The 1970/914 manufactured in 6 with a 2-liter six-cylinder boxer, two triple downdraft carburetors and 110 hp didn't change much. But the changes to this blue (Adriatic Blue) 914/6 would have certainly ensured that the 14er easily puts the 2,0 in its pocket. Instead of the original 3,6-liter six-cylinder engine, the one-off built a 993-liter six-transmitter from a 1998 from 915. The engine was connected to a gearbox of the type XNUMX Limited slip differential coupled and continues to drive only the rear wheels. And the changes made aren't just limited to the engine. The body also received some changes. For example, there were special metal fender flares that gave the 914 the look of the 914/6 GT factory racing car.

Fender widenings of metal

In our opinion, they have been successfully integrated into the body and ensure significantly more aggressiveness, especially when viewed from the rear. And also with the rest of the changes - such as the aprons at the front and rear - one tried to interpret the 914/6 GT works racing car true to the original. Of course, the vehicle is on classic 16 inches (8 × 16 & 9 × 16) Fuchsfelgen in glossy black with 255/50 BFGoodrich g-Force sport tires and there were also some changes in the cabin. The typical MOMO prototypeSport steering wheel and the König bucket seats appear to be newly upholstered and the interior with VDO instrumentation is otherwise untampered and of high quality. Only the Blaupunkt Heidelberg CD51 radio doesn’t really want to fit into the cabin and, in view of the built-in engine, should be quite unnecessary.
