Only 250 pieces: 272 PS VW Arteon R-Line Edition 2020

Volkswagen is launching an Arteon with a unique character on the market: With the Arteon R-Line Edition, which is limited to 250 units, Volkswagen is focusing even more on the dynamics and travel qualities of the Gran Turismo. Exclusive design features, extensive standard equipment and a choice of four powerful turbo engines with 140 kW / 190 PS to 200 kW / 272 PS characterize the special edition, available from 55.970 euros. The Arteon R-Line Edition has a wide range of standard equipment, which is not available in this combination in any other version of the series. The expressive two-tone paint in "moonstone gray" with a black roof is even reserved for the Arteon R-Line Edition. The exterior finish is perfected by 20-inch “Rosario” alloy wheels and darkened windows in the rear. The interior is perfectly matched to the exterior.

“Nappa” leather package in the interior

The leather package "Nappa" shapes the interior, which can be customized in color using ambient lighting. As part of the winter package, which is also standard, the outer rear seats can also be heated in addition to the front seats. In addition to the navigation function, the "Discover Pro" infotainment system also features "Wireless App-Connect", voice control and digital radio reception DAB +. The "Discover Pro" and the "Digital Cockpit" (fully digital instruments) form a unit similar to the Innovision Cockpit - known from the Touareg. Thanks to the keyless access keyless start and lock system, the car key can always be kept in your pocket. Standard high-tech systems perfect comfort and safety: The "Area View" including rear view camera allows a view around the vehicle and facilitates maneuvering, as does the Park Assist "Park Assist". The traffic sign recognition, the lane change assistant "Side Assist", the environment monitoring system "Front Assist" and the predictive distance control "ACC" increase safety in flowing traffic and make long journeys more comfortable and safe.

LED headlights are installed as standard

With the standard "Dynamic Light Assist" for the LED headlights, the driver also enjoys the comfort of dynamic cornering lights and automatic control of the high beams. The range of engines in the Arteon R-Line Edition focuses particularly on the sportiness of the Gran Turismo. Consequently, the four most powerful units in the series are available for the limited special edition. All of them are efficient 2,0-liter four-cylinders connected to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG). The spectrum is opened by a TSI petrol engine and a TDI turbo diesel with 140 kW / 190 hp. The all-wheel drive top diesel mobilizes 176 kW / 240 PS. The most powerful version is the Arteon R-Line Edition with the 2,0 TSI, 200 kW / 272 PS peak output and all-wheel drive (4MOTION). In addition, the ESC system was adapted. As with the sporty R models, it can now be completely deactivated.

  • Extravagant exterior: new "Moonstone Gray" paint color plus black roof and 20-inch "Rosario" alloy wheels
  • Extensive equipment: "Park Assist", lane change assistant "Side Assist" and environmental monitoring system "Front Assist"
  • Two powerful turbo gasoline engines (TSI) and two turbo diesel engines (TDI) with 140 kW / 190 PS1 / 2/3 to 200 kW / 272 PS4 / 5 ensure high long-distance comfort

adaptive chassis control "DCC"

The two most powerful versions of the Arteon R-Line Edition have the currently highest level of adaptive chassis control "DCC" on board. The "DCC" is optionally available for the 140 kW models. The system allows the controlled dampers to be continuously configured from Comfort + to Sport + via the settings for the driving profile selection (Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual). This is one of the reasons why the limited special model shines as a particularly dynamic business class travel vehicle. The Arteon R-Line Edition can be ordered immediately at prices from 55.970 euros (for the 2.0 TSI with 140 kW / 190 PS) and will be delivered from February 2020. If we receive timely information on further changes compared to the "normal" R-Line, there is of course an update for this report.
