The new K 1600 models: six-cylinder fascination for dynamic and luxurious travel, touring and cruising. Six-cylinder in-line engines have always been one of the flagship engines at BMW, and since 2010 BMW Motorrad has been offering fascinating six-cylinder performance and luxurious equipment at the highest level with the K 1600 models. For use in the new K 1600 GT, GTL, B and Grand America, the exciting six-cylinder engine has been adapted to the current EU-5 regulations. From a technical point of view, the core is the use of the BMS-O engine management system, two knock sensors and two additional broadband lambda sensors. In addition to drastically improved emission values, there are also noticeable advantages in the representation of power and torque of the six-cylinder engine. The nominal output is still 118 kW (160 hp). However, it is now already reached at a speed of 6 min-750 and thus 1 min-1 earlier than before.
In addition, the technical innovations result in an increase in the maximum torque from previously 175 Nm to 180 Nm at a speed of still 5 rpm. Even more confident pulling power and even more powerful acceleration are the noticeable positive effects for the driver. Another new component is the engine drag torque control (MSR). It can be used to safely avoid unstable driving conditions that can arise in overrun mode or when downshifting due to excessive slip on the rear wheel.

With the electronic suspension BMW Motorrad Dynamic ESA "Next Generation" (Electronic Suspension Adjustment), the new K 1600 GT, GTL, B and Grand America open up even higher dimensions in terms of driving safety, performance and comfort, as the damping depends on the driving condition and driving maneuvers is automatically adapted to the circumstances and an automatic driving position compensation takes place in all load conditions.
State-of-the-art LED light units and new full LED headlights with adaptive cornering lights.
For decades, BMW Motorrad has been a pioneer when it comes to motorcycle safety. The new full-LED headlights with LED lens technology and iconic daytime running lights (depending on the market) illuminate the road with unmatched bright, clear light and underline the prestige of the new six-cylinder models.
Another standard component of the headlight is the swivel function "Adaptive headlights". The dipped beam of the LED headlight is turned into the curve depending on the incline. In this way, curves are almost fully illuminated because the light is where the motorcycle is going. In addition, by swiveling the entire headlight unit (± 2 °), the dynamic driving conditions (braking, accelerating) are automatically regulated and optimal illumination is ensured at all times. In addition, a number of new light functions such as the "welcome light" are available.
New, 10,25-inch TFT color display with integrated map navigation for convenient route planning and extensive connectivity as standard.
The new K 1600 GT, GTL, B and Grand America are equipped as standard with a new 10,25-inch TFT color display with integrated map navigation and connectivity. With excellent readability, clear menu navigation and a highly integrated operating concept, you are at the forefront of your motorcycle segment. The new 10,25-inch color display makes it possible to show a navigation map in the instrument cluster and thus dispense with an additional display.
Audio system 2.0 - a new digital dimension of sound as standard or as an ex-works option.
With the audio system 2.0, the new K 1600 GTL and Grand America already offer an even more intense sound experience as standard. The audio system is available as an ex-works option for the K 1600 GT and K 1600 B.
Superior travel expertise and six-cylinder dynamism in attractive basic colors, exclusive style and elegant Option 719 variants. Option 719 “Midnight” with water transfer printing for K 1600 B and K 1600 Grand America.
There are three attractive colors to choose from for the new K 1600 GT, GTL, B and Grand America: a basic variant, a style variant and option 719. Option 719 “Midnight”, which is only available on the K 1600 B and the K 1600 Grand America are available.
