BILSTEIN chassis optimization for Jeep Grand Cherokee / Commander!

The stars of the off-road scene include jeeps of all stripes. Even the more comfortable models Grand Cherokee III (WH, WK, model year 2004-2011) and Commander (XK, XH, model year 2005-2010) perform impressively off-road. In addition, BILSTEIN has various options in its range to further improve the handling of both models - both on and off the road. However, workshops will be surprised why most of these BILSTEIN shock absorbers have neither a sleeve nor a tube as dust protection. After all, this important detail can be found on every car damper and should be there even more on an off-road vehicle - shouldn't it? Were the accessories simply forgotten in the end? Rainer Popiol, Head of the BILSTEIN Academy, gives the all-clear. “On both models, Chrysler engineers chose not to use dust boots or tubes on the Original Equipment shock absorbers. The problem was solved constructively otherwise. That is why various BILSTEIN dampers for Jeep Grand Cherokee and Commander are also supplied without additional dust protection and can be installed as they are without hesitation.”

As a Suspension upgrade for the two Jeep models For example, the BILSTEIN B6 4600 shock absorber is available from BILSTEIN. It stands for better handling for off-road and on-road use. Its precise tuning reduces the uncontrolled movements of the high body typical of off-road vehicles and SUVs. At the same time, the steering precision and the load capacity of the chassis are increased. This guarantees more vehicle control, safer handling and better traction.

The BILSTEIN B8 5100 turn is the ideal shock absorber for increased ground clearance and optimum traction. Due to its extended design, it also fits perfectly with lift kits. The Grand Cherokee and Commander can go up to 50 millimeters. The BILSTEIN mono-tube technology and the patented degressive valve system of the BILSTEIN B8 5100 are specially designed for these requirements.

For the Grand Cherokee the "normal" BILSTEIN B6 is also available, which is not a dedicated off-road damper but an improved series replacement. Its additional damping force ensures more traction, more precise handling, optimal road grip and increased directional stability in everyday use. At the same time body movements are reduced. Anyone who uses their jeep as a towing vehicle for horse trailers and the like can also look forward to improved handling and increased driving safety - although this of course also applies to the BILSTEIN B6 4600 and B8 5100.
