The cycling market is once again shaken by a real bomb. Ducati, the Italian king of two-wheeled locomotion, stormed the E-MTB space with a bang: the launch of the Power Stage RR Limited Edition. Inspired by the recently introduced special stages in e-enduro races, Ducati has developed a model that brings so much power and performance that even the steepest climbs become child's play. With the new Powerstage RR Limited Edition, Ducati is breaking new ground and setting the standard for e-enduro bikes. The Power Stage is reminiscent of the new special stages on e-enduro racetracks, where drivers not only have to master downhill, but also technically demanding climbs. It's a test that pushes both the drivers and the material to their limits. And the Powerstage RR was designed precisely for such challenges.
Ducati POWERSTAGE RR Limited
The combination of technology and high-quality components meets the highest standards. The entire frame of the bike is made of full carbon and has been specially tested for tough use on the steepest and most demanding routes. By using the finite element method (FEM analysis), Ducati engineers were able to identify and specifically reinforce the most stressed points of the frame. This ensures high rigidity and optimal performance in demanding off-road situations.
High-quality details for maximum driving pleasure
But not only the frame of the Powerstage RR Limited Edition is impressive. A look at the details shows that Ducati has made no compromises here either. For example, the inner cable guides are protected by a steering stop system (T-stopper). The bearings are also located directly on the joints that are in contact with the carbon, which makes the use of additional bushings superfluous. The asymmetrical rear chainstay, in addition to a unique design, ensures improved response and thus optimizes traction on steep climbs. All of this contributes to the Powerstage RR moving quickly and stably on the most demanding tracks.
The geometry of the Powerstage RR was deliberately chosen to allow the rider optimal positioning on technical climbs. The vertical seat tube angle of 78° and the head tube angle of 64° ensure excellent handling in all riding situations. For the drive, Ducati has chosen the new Shimano EP801, which retains the original characteristics of the EP8 but goes one step further in terms of performance and efficiency.
Rated at 250 watts and 85Nm of torque, the EP801 delivers fluid and natural support over a wider cadence range than ever before. In addition, the drive has two preset support profiles: "Long Ride" and "Fast Ride". The "Long Ride" profile is ideal for long tours and promotes the bike's autonomy, while "Fast Ride" guarantees maximum performance on shorter rides.
Technological masterpiece and impressive performance
One of the outstanding features of the Powerstage RR Limited Edition is the "Fine Tune" mode of the "Shimano E-Tube Project" app. This allows drivers to create their own profiles and customize the support. The 630 Wh Shimano battery, located inside the "vertical" down tube, not only lowers the center of gravity but also improves the balance of the bike.
The Öhlins RXF38 m.2 air fork with 180 mm travel and the Öhlins m.2 shock absorber with TTX technology with 170 mm travel ensure excellent suspension and stability. Both are fully adjustable in both rebound and compression at high and low speeds. The wireless electronic 12-speed SRAM GX AXS rear wheel shifter stands for immediate and precise shifting. The "Braking First" brakes with individually adjustable Ducati Corse levers and 203 mm brake discs ensure first-class braking performance.
Excellent design and unique features
As for the wheels, Ducati has opted for Crankbrothers Synthesis wheels. “Mullet style” with 29″ front and 27,5″ rear and carbon rims with variable thickness, they improve steering precision and guarantee a brilliant weight/strength ratio. The tires are Pirelli Scorpion Enduro S at the front and Pirelli Scorpion EMTB-S at the rear. They offer maximum grip and brilliant traction. Other high-quality features include a telescopic seat post, Renthal carbon handlebars and a Fizik saddle with integrated multi-tool holder.
Ducati in the premium segment of e-mountain bikes
As Giorgio Favaretto, head of Ducati's e-bike business, points out: “Since the launch of the MIG-RR, our first e-MTB produced in collaboration with Thok E-Bikes, we have continued to expand and improve our range of e-bikes. With the new Powerstage RR, we are underscoring our presence in the premium segment of e-mountain bikes, which is aimed at increasingly demanding bikers.The Powerstage RR Limited Edition livery was designed by Aldo Drudi in collaboration with Centro Stile Ducati and is inspired by the official team's Desmosedici GP23. It underlines the unique character of the e-mountain bike, which is being produced in a limited edition of 230 units - an allusion to the successful model.
The new Powerstage RR Limited Edition will be on display in the paddock during the upcoming German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring. It is already available at Ducati dealers and online at ducati.com orderable. The recommended retail price in Germany is EUR 11.990 including VAT, shipping and customs. All interested parties are cordially invited to examine the 2023 e-bike series at Eurobike (Frankfurt, Pavilion 8, Stand I03) from June 21 to 25. When it comes to E-MTBs, Ducati is setting new standards with the Powerstage RR Limited Edition and we can't wait to see what the Italian brand will bring to the market next.
