Do an e-bike swap in just 30 seconds? This works out! The manufacturer LIVALL presents PikaBoost as a conversion kit that is mounted between the seat post and the rear wheel without tools. Similar to an e-bike, the pedal support is provided by a Motor with friction wheel guaranteed, which drives the rear wheel. PikaBoost is designed for different types of terrain, such as road and light terrain, and thanks to intelligent control it adjusts the power accordingly. The system also has a cruise control function to maintain a preset speed. The driver can choose between three modes, including a sport mode.

The battery capacity of PikaBoost is 234 Wh and this enables a range of up to 30 km without recharging on the go. Charging is possible in two ways: either the conventional charging at a socket in about three hours or via the built-in regenerative system, similar to a dynamo. As a result, the battery of PikaBoost can be used when driving downhill or on flat routes (but then with a higher pedaling resistance) can be charged while driving (recuperating). LIVALL then promises an almost unlimited range, which, however, must first be confirmed by a practical test under real conditions.
Similar conversion kits for e-bikes with a friction wheel drive are the Zipforce for 649 euros and the Velospeeder for around 1.000 euros.
The compact dimensions of the waterproof PikaBoost housing (IP66 certification) are 66 x 34 x 13 cm and the drive system weighs only around three kilograms. Other built-in features include a Taillight, which also serves as a brake light, as well as Bluetooth anti-theft protection and automatic fall detection. The crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter started at the beginning of November, offering PikaBoost at the special price of 299 US dollars. The later regular retail price is almost double that, namely 599 US dollars.
