A camping holiday does not suit everyone. In 2020, however, it became much more popular as an alternative to long-distance travel. On a camping holiday you can combine flexibility and comfort without having to travel far. Campers or mobile homes are small houses on four wheels. They are usually fully equipped with a bathroom, a kitchen and comfortable seating areas. Luxurious vehicles even allow you to take a compact vehicle or motorcycles with you and some of them are more fully equipped than your own home. Depending on your wallet, driving license class and interests, you can enjoy more or less comfort in the middle of nature. Incidentally, most campers can be used with a conventional carDriver's license be driven. With a class B driver's license, you can move models up to 3,5 tons in weight. Older class 3 driving licenses even allow vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 7,5 tonnes to be driven. This means that even beginners can quickly have a spontaneous camping holiday.

Due to the new holiday trend, the demand for motorhomes has also increased rapidly. If you spontaneously want to buy or rent a model, you may have to make compromises. For newcomers, renting a small motorhome is recommended. So you can slowly get used to the new vacation and test it without long-term commitments. Depending on the size, equipment and the season, motorhomes cost around 100 euros per day. In addition there are about 10 to 50 euros for each night on the pitch and about 6 to 20 euros for the insurance of the motorhome. For enthusiastic campers, buying a motorhome is also worthwhile. The average cost is around 70.000 euros. Converted newer vehicles based on a panel van (delivery van) are even available from around 40.000 euros and conquer the market with almost 50% of the total. Current campers up to 3,5 tons are the brand new VW mini camper, Mercedes Sprinter from VANSPORTS, Irmscher Zafira is3, Possl Campster or even the MS-RT Wellhouse from Ford. The list could go on forever. After buying your own motorhome, you can enjoy your vacation completely freely and flexibly.

Corona ensures more hygiene requirements

Because of the current Corona situation, campers with generous equipment are particularly popular. That means vehicles with shower, toilet, kitchen and a separate sink for washing your hands so that you don't have to use the toilets / showers there at the campsite. In addition, more and more people are looking at easy-to-clean surfaces and the possibility of being able to transport and attach various cleaning agents, disinfectant dispensers, etc. If you choose to rent a motorhome, you should make sure that the rental agency has thoroughly disinfected and cleaned the vehicle before handing it over. In addition, there is nothing against the vehicle to the handover and in briefly disinfect the actual vacation trip, at least at the essential points such as the steering wheel. More information about which components and surfaces should be given special attention in our Disinfect car info report.
