A gas switching system in the camper - the two-bottle system!

You will appreciate the advantages of a gas exchange system at the latest when the gas bottle runs out in the middle of the night and you are forced to change the bottle in the dark. For existing gas systems with space for two bottles in the motorhome, it is advisable to use one automatic gas exchange system to install The 2-bottle system changes automatically as soon as the first bottle is empty. As a result, the operation of the gas system can always be guaranteed and supplies can be easily procured.

How does the system work?

Switching gas regulators have two connections for both gas bottles. A marking on the rotary switch of the switching system shows which bottle is currently in operation. The green indicator signals that the cylinder is still filled with gas. Once the bottle is empty, the system will automatically switch to the spare bottle and the indicator will turn red. The now empty, previously active gas bottle can exchanged without interrupting the gas supply. After the change, the switch of the switching system is turned so that the marking points to the former replacement bottle as the new operating bottle. Gas filters also prevent contamination in the gas system and protect both the pressure reducer and the switching valve from contamination from oily aerosols and condensate residues.

What should you pay attention to when converting?

  • System compatibility: Make sure that the automatic gas exchange system is suitable for the motorhome model and the existing gas installation.
  • space: Check whether there is enough space for two gas cylinders and the switching system.
  • gas cylinders: Use of suitable and approved gas cylinders (e.g. propane or butane).
  • Professional installation: Installation should be performed by a qualified professional to ensure safety and correct function.
  • Gas filter: Installation of a gas filter to prevent contamination in the gas system and to protect the pressure reducer and changeover valve.
  • pressure reducer: Selection of a suitable pressure reducer for the gas system.
  • Regular maintenance: Regular inspection and maintenance of the gas system is important to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Connection hoses: Check the hoses for cracks or damage and replace if necessary.
  • Safety aspects: Observance of the applicable safety regulations and standards for the installation and operation of gas systems in mobile homes.
  • Operation manual: Careful reading of the operating instructions and instruction in the functioning of the automatic gas exchange system.
