Classic with M-Power: BMW 3.0 CS E9 with S54 engine!

Ever wondered what happens when you take a '70s classic and give it the heart of an iconic sports coupe? Well, in the US, that's exactly what was done with a BMW 3.0 CS coupe of the E9 generation that's for sale right now. And it's anything but ordinary. Our story begins with a classic BMW 3.0 CS E9, originally fitted with a 180 hp straight-six from the M30 family. He was basically a respectable performer for his time, but someone thought good wasn't good enough.

So instead of keeping the old M30 alive, it was replaced with the S54, a high-revving powerplant first used in the E46 generation of the BMW M3 and later also in the Z4 M (E85, E86) of the early 2000s. Years. With its 343 hp, the S54 is the last M straight-six without turbocharging and a real gem for purists. The power pack brings with it a level of performance that was reserved for super athletes in the early '70s. The following onboard video indicates that the S54 can "play" much more freely in the light frame of the E9 and leaves an even better impression than in the E46.

But the E1973, built in 9 and now heavily modified, is not only impressive under the hood. It was also equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox, a limited-slip differential, an adjusted chassis and a significantly more powerful braking system. The exterior is no less cool. The coupe is painted in Malaga red and equipped with 16-inch Epsilon rims, some of which are painted red and gold - a real feast for the eyes. Inside there is also a brown leather interior, refined with classic wooden strips.
