The current generation of the BMW Roadster Z4 is rare on our roads and especially in the tuning scene. That's unfair in our opinion, because the G29 is an excellent open-air fun car. This is particularly true of the M40i top model, which has been optimized by dÄHLer Competition Line. The tuning experts from Belp in the canton of Bern, Switzerland, are known for their refinements of BMW models and they offer for some time now an extensive portfolio of technical and optical improvements for the roadster.
BMW G29 Z4 M40i
The most important upgrades relate to the increase in performance: the 3,0-liter twin-turbo in-line six-cylinder in the M40i with standard 340 hp and 500 Nm is developed by Christoph Dähler and his team in Level 1 up to 408 PS and 600 Nm increased. Optionally, even the cancellation of the electronic maximum speed limit and homologation for the EU and Switzerland are available (WLTP/Euro6d test & DTC/CH report). In Level 2 are even 440 PS and 640 Nm possible. An optional carbon Air intake is also available.
The optional stainless steel exhaust system produces a deep but subtle sound as long as the flaps are closed. With the flaps open, the sound is significantly more powerful and matches the engine. Customers can choose between two or four tailpipes in silver satin or black matt ceramic coating. High-performance catalytic converters are also optionally available. All components mentioned are legalized and tested accordingly.

If desired, the software of the 8-speed automatic transmission can also be adapted to the new performance values. And dÄHLer Competition Line also offers performance upgrades for the smaller ones G29-Motorizations on: The base Z4 sDrive20i (Series: 197 hp / 320 Nm) achieves 240 hp and 400 Nm, while the sDrive30i from 258 hp / 400 Nm to 300 hp and 480 Nm. The range of suspension upgrades for the G29 Z4 ranges from Lowering springs, which are matched to the series dampers, to the adjustable performance coilover suspension. The brake system can also be equipped with sports brake pads and Steel braided brake lines be improved.
The fact is: Alloy wheels are decisive for the appearance and driving dynamics of a car. dÄHLer Competition Line therefore offers two in-house forged designs. The black vehicle shown has the new forged wheel CDC2 FORGED in 9,0×20 and 10,0×20 inches. The popular CDC1 FORGED is available in the same sizes and even mounted in 9,0×21 and 10,5×21 inches on the gray car. The rim finish is carried out individually according to customer requirements.
various aerodynamic parts available
For further sporty customization of the exterior, dÄHLer Competition Line offers various aerodynamic parts: A Front spoiler, which emphasizes the body design, is available in body color, contrasting color or in carbon. Ditto for the M-style mirror caps. There is a subtle carbon spoiler for the rear, while a glass wind deflector reduces the wind in the interior.
And the Swiss experts also offer various finishes for the cabin: from one speedometer extension to 330 km/h, aluminum pedals and high-quality floor mats to tailor-made interior appointments made of leather and/or Alcantara.
