Announced last week, officially unveiled today. The Ford Ranger Raptor is now also available as a "Special Edition". The Ranger Raptor is getting reinforcement: Ford is providing the particularly tough high-performance version of Europe's most successful pick-up with a special edition: The Ranger Raptor Special Edition, a limited special model, underlines the striking exterior and interior design of the sensational flatbed truck with additional ones Optical accents. In addition to powerful decorative stripes, these include, for example, details set off in striking red. The focus is on the exclusive Special Edition variant: It plays one of the main roles in "The Good, the Bad and the Bad-RSE" (RSE = Raptor Special Edition). In the action film released today by Ford, which takes on the style of a spaghetti western, the Raptor Special Edition shows its revised design and spectacularly demonstrates its high-speed off-road capabilities. The special model is accompanied by other special Ranger models such as Stormtrak and Wolftrak.
"The Good, the Bad and the Bad-RSE"
In “The Good, the Bad and the Bad-RSE”, the new Ranger Raptor Special Edition has to escape a gang of trigger-happy gangsters in a typical spaghetti western scenario. Other Ranger models are there to help. The video was shot on a real Wild West set in Spain. The plot repeatedly alludes to iconic cowboy films and of course does not leave out dramatic drift and jump scenes. They already shaped the first presentation film of the Ranger Raptor - this video has attracted more than five million viewers on the relevant platforms to date.

The Ranger Raptor is the ultimate series version of the successful Ranger series and was made for real off-road fans as well as for people who are looking for adventure off the beaten path. Developed by Ford Performance, apart from an ultra-robust chassis, a reinforced chassis and corresponding tires, a high-performance EcoBlue turbo-diesel with 156 kW (213 PS) is one of its characteristic features. The Ranger Raptor Special Edition is rolling out to European dealers from October this year. Sales price: from 58.835 euros net or from 70.014 euros gross.
“The new Special Edition sharpens the dramatic 'bad ass' appearance of the Ranger Raptor with independent design elements for the body and for the interior. That makes our performance pick-up even more distinctive and desirable, ”explains Stefan Münzinger, Managing Director of Ford Performance Europe. "As the main actor in his own spaghetti western, he was able to perfectly demonstrate his special style and special off-road talents."
The Ranger Raptor Special Edition attracts attention magnetically
The limited special model already attracts attention through its special decoration: two matt black decorative stripes - delimited on the outside by red contrasting lines - extend from the bonnet over the roof to the luggage compartment tailgate and along the side of the sills to the rear flank of the drop side. Ford offers the Special Edition in three distinctive exterior colors: Ford Performance Blue Metallic, Race Red and Obsidian Black.
It goes with the fact that the front tow hooks are also painted in red. The typical Ford radiator grille, the front and rear bumpers as well as the flared fenders and door handles, on the other hand, are finished in matt black - features that underline the imposing appearance of the Ranger Raptor.
The Special Edition also sets its own accents in the interior of the double cabin. Red decorative stitching for the steering wheel, the dashboard and the door panels create a sporty ambience. The seats offer good comfort as well as the desired lateral support when things get down to business off the beaten track. The matt black instrument panel additionally emphasizes the exclusive atmosphere of the Special Edition.
Like the Ranger Raptor, the special model also relies on the Ford Performance chassis. It has been specially designed for off-road driving at higher speeds. Compared to the Ranger XLT, the ground clearance increased by 51 millimeters, the watt depth increased to 850 millimeters and the track grew by 150 millimeters in width. The specially developed high-performance chassis relies on double aluminum wishbones on the front axle and a multilink wheel suspension at the rear. The high-performance shock absorbers from the off-road specialist FOX have position-dependent variable damping that extends the spring deflection on the front axle by 32 percent and on the rear wheels by 18 percent. Depending on the driving situation, they offer higher damping forces off-road or lower damping forces during normal driving over paved roads. All-terrain tires of the General Grabber AT3 type offer the best possible grip, especially on loose surfaces.
Brute torque maximum of 500 Nm
The special edition of the Ranger Raptor is powered by the 156 kW (213 hp) EcoBlue diesel engine from Ford with bi-turbo charging. The 2,0 liter four-cylinder develops a brute torque maximum of 500 Nm. The engine torque finds its way to the four driven wheels via a state-of-the-art 10-speed automatic transmission, which is also used in the Ford Mustang. The Terrain Management System with six different driving programs is also on board. Depending on the nature of the upcoming section of the route, it adapts the Ranger Raptor to the challenges - up to and including the high-speed off-road mode "Baja", named after the famous Baja California desert rally.
