Ford Anglia with full metal style - British hot rod on Finnish streets.

A Ford Anglia was almost completely unknown in this country until a while ago. Built in England, the compact car was mainly sold on the island and a few examples also found their way to continental Europe. Especially through the Harry Potter book series by Joanne K. Rowling, in which a flying Ford Anglia 105E appears, the model also became better known in Germany, but most readers of the Harry Potter series probably do not know which model it is is actually the flying car. But this Ford Anglia, which is on Finnish roads, does not fly, but cruises around as an absolute show car because it has been completely tuned by the owner in full metal style and looks as if it has no paint finish.

A Ford that draws everyone's attention.

This 1962 Ford Anglia, which was completely rebuilt by owner Aki Kalke after taking it over from his father, has not been moved for 15 years. Aki's goal was actually to save his father's car from the scrap press and to restore the old Ford so that it could drive on the road without any problems. However, the vehicle soon became a very special project, which should go more in the direction of a custom car instead of just being a restoration. The entire chassis was modified so that it was easily possible to install an airlift air suspension. In addition, the custom Ford rolls on two-part 15-inch wheels, which are painted in black, but have a shiny chrome tread. From the outside, the characteristic shape of the Ford Anglia was not changed, and only modifications were made that underline the metal style of the little Englishman, such as a completely silver grill. Thus, this hot rod would not even stand out from the outside, but it becomes very clear that it is a custom car if you look at the interior.

Everything has been modified in the interior.

It would probably be much easier to list the standard parts of the interior, since owner Aki Kalke bought a CNC milling machine to design the cockpit of the unique Ford according to his very special wishes. Not only the pentagonal steering wheel, but the entire interior, which even includes IKEA furniture as seats, is handmade, and clearly shows that this Anglia is a purely custom car. Brushed metal as far as the eye can see, and an interior atmosphere that is strongly reminiscent of Fischer technology is not everyone's taste, but we find that the design goes well with the extraordinary project vehicle.

Toyota engine installed as a drive source.

As if the conversions weren't enough, a so-called engine swap was also carried out, and the old 1-liter petrol engine from Ford had to give way to a 1,3-liter petrol engine from Toyota. The Toyota 4E-FE engine was also slightly modified to get a higher compression and also received a few visual changes. Unfortunately, nothing is known to us about the performance and performance of the extraordinary custom car, but such a specimen is definitely not designed to drive races or to chase BMWs and Audis back and forth on the highway.

Many things are different in Finland's tuning scene.

The winters are hard, the nights are long, and this is how many Finnish tuning fans come up with crazy ideas. It was something like that at Aki Kalke when he decided to create a unique custom car from his father's Ford Anglia. Should you fall in love with the car spontaneously, we can warmly recommend the picture gallery at the end of the article.
