Mazda RX-7 (FD) with 450 WHP and widebody kit!

It is the last two-door Wankel engine sports car to leave the Hiroshima factory. Even if the rotary piston engine is still alive, it was Mazda RX-7 of the FD generation is the last two-door to date to be fitted with the unusual drive concept. That makes him, besides the fact that he's in the JDM scene like as Drifter used, it becomes a desirable classic that can fetch top prices at auction, provided it is in perfect condition. Today we would like to introduce you to a specimen from California that the tuners Phil son and Brian Treffeisen modified according to all the rules of the art.

Widebody monster for JDM fans!

The vehicle equipped with DYC LineSprühfolie was "painted" in the color Motor Oil, has some peculiarities. Components from various parts manufacturers were combined into a martial-looking body kit. Especially the air intakes behind the front axle are almost scary and the gigantic one Ducktail spoiler, which is almost the size of a snow shovel, is very reminiscent of JDM accessories for the current Toyota GR86. A front splitter and powerful flaps on the newly designed rear bumper bear witness to racing ambitions.

There is also a huge front wing diffuser at the front, which is intended to ensure maximum downforce. Wide side skirts and martial air intakes on the hood, which are designed similar to a Dodge Viper, round off the hardcore restyling kit. 18-inch Advan GT rims fitted with Toyo (R888-R) 255/35 tires at the front and 295/30 tires at the rear can also be seen.

There are also Tein Flex Z coil springs with Tein EDFC Active Pro dampers with electronic adjustment and other modifications to the chassis. Last but not least, a Wilwood Big Brake Kit found its way to the front axle. On the other hand, a braking system from Racing Brake '99 including a brake caliper kit was installed on the rear axle. The new braking system RX-7 should guarantee optimal deceleration in all driving situations.

The interior has been trimmed for race track suitability!

After boarding, pilot and co-pilot take on Bride Vios III Type R Japan Series-Racing bucket seats Place. For optimal safety in all situations, they are lashed down with Schroth professional harness belts. The standard instruments and the control unit for heating and air conditioning had to give way in favor of a carbon cladding, and in front of the driver there are state-of-the-art digital instruments from PowerTech, which transmit all telemetry data to the pilot in a matter of seconds.

Carbon linings on the shift gate and the center console also testify to the car's sporty intentions. Of course you can also Roll cage , and a Fire Extinguisher not missing. The fixed luggage compartment cover made of carbon, which was created in-house, is exceptional.

Twin-rotor Wankel engine with single turbo drives the bolide!

The 1.308 cubic centimeters rotary engine, which was equipped with a turbocharger, delivers a whopping 450 HP on the bike. Unfortunately, we have no information on the maximum torque. All standard components of the engine were replaced by tuning parts and the two tuners Phil Sohn and Brian Treffeisen even carried out the complete conversion themselves.

Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission with shortened shift travel. A locking differential ensures that the Mazda gets the power slip-free on the road. The driving performance should be at the level of a super sports car, even if we unfortunately have no driving data for the Nippon racer.

Our conclusion:

  • A successful one RX-7 Project. We bow to the tuning crew. Whether cruising down the boulevard or racing down the drag strip, the RX-7 cuts a fine figure everywhere. If we get more information, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed about this if you simply use our Feed subscribe to. Have fun watching the pictures and stay true to us!
