The end of an era: Mercedes-Benz G 500 V8 Final Edition!

The downsizing wave is hitting another veteran of automotive history. Mercedes announces the end of the V8 engine in the G 500 and marks the end of the era with the new Final edition. A total of 1.500 units of the farewell model are to be built before the beefy eight-cylinder is sent into retirement. The Final Edition is an ode to three decades of history since the introduction of the first beefy V8 G-Class, the 500 GE. From the coming model year, G 500 fans will have to make do with a smaller Six-cylinder powertrain to be satisfied. The legendary off-road vehicle will be available as an edition in three color variants, with each color based on 500 copies is limited. Each model proudly sports a "Final Edition" decal as well as a chrome outline for the spare tire cover.

The 20-inch AMG wheels in a double-spoke design, which are painted in the body color when the paintwork is in "Olive Magno". With the other two colors (black & white), however, the rims remain black. embossed Logos on the door handles complete the exterior changes. As soon as you open the doors, the "G" logo and the lettering "Stronger than time“ to the robustness and longevity of the G. The same message can also be found on the interior cover that came with the last G 500 V8. Side sill and handholds are also provided with the "Final Edition" lettering, which can also be found on the back of the keys finds. Mercedes has also wrapped the interior in leather, since almost all surfaces with nappa are upholstered, including the luggage compartment and the switch panel for the seat adjustment.

422 PS & 610 Nm of torque

Added to that Burmester surround sound system, two-tone Seats , and a leather headliner with Diamond quilting, which is colour-coordinated with the center of the seat. Under the hood, however, there are no changes. The performance of the 4,0-liter twin-turbo V8 remains unchanged 422 hp and a torque of 610 Newton meters. Production of the final G 500 models with a V8 engine is planned for the period from September 2023 to March 2024. Interested parties can order the special model now for €196.350. Although the G 500 loses its eight-cylinder, the G-Class with a combustion engine will remain for the time being and will be replaced by the all-electric EQG that retains the iconic boxy design.
