With the Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron Audi presents two real all-rounders - they are confident companions for sport and leisure and are suitable as a first car in every respect. With external dimensions of 4.588 millimeters in length, 1.865 millimeters in width and 1.632 millimeters in height (values for Q4 e-tron) they belong to the segment of larger compact SUVs.

The architecture of the modular electric drive kit (MEB) on which the compact electric SUVs from Audi are based, however, enables a completely new room layout. The technical components take up little space: the high-voltage battery is located as a flat block under the passenger cell, the drive unit is compact on the rear axle - and on the four Models also on the front axle - housed. The short front end houses the radiator, the electric brake booster and large components of the air conditioning system. The front overhang measures just 86 centimeters, but the wheelbase is a generous 2,76 meters - even more than in the medium-sized SUV segment. At 1,83 meters, the resulting interior space is even as long as that of a large luxury SUV.

Welcome on board: comfortable entry, superior space

Just getting started in the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron is comfortable: the doors open wide, the seats are comfortably high. In the dark, projection lights in the exterior mirrors cast islands of light with the e-tron Logo on the street in front of the front doors (option). The projection takes up the design idea of the fine horizontal lines in the headlights and rear lights.

On board the E-SUV, the driver and his up to four passengers enjoy a generous amount of space, also because there is only one flat step instead of a central tunnel. The seating position in row two is almost 7 centimeters higher than in the front, but there is still plenty of headroom - and the knee room is downright luxurious. The compact electric SUVs from Audi surpass their direct competitors in the premium segment in terms of space.

On request, Audi can deliver a panoramic glass roof: It extends over a large area of the roof area. Its dark tint and an almost opaque electric blind prevent the interior from heating up. Automatic air conditioning is on all Q4 e-tron Models as standard, optionally there is a system with 3-zone control and a heated windshield. Both features are available in the air conditioning package - Audi has bundled many options in packages. This also applies to the areas of comfort, chassis, function, infotainment, charging, driver assistance and the interior. For customers, this philosophy simplifies the selection of popular equipment because it reduces the complexity by half.

Shelves galore: 24,8 liter volume and ergonomic bottle shelf

As a real all-rounder and family car, the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron a generous range of shelves with - including the glove compartment, they add up to a volume of 24,8 liters. The center console integrates two cup holders, a 4,4 liter storage compartment with lid, two (optionally four) USB-C sockets and, if required, the Audi phone box for the cell phone. All four door panels have slots for bottles with a volume of up to 1,0 liters, which are high up in the front area of the armrest and are therefore ergonomically very easy to reach. The upper bottle holders were created in close cooperation between designers and engineers - accommodating them in the limited space of the door was a real challenge.

In the trunk of the Q4 e-tron can accommodate 520 liters of luggage. By folding down the backrests, which are divided in a ratio of 40:20:40, an almost level surface is created, so 1.490 liters are available for roof-high loading. In the Sportback, the rear compartment holds 535 or 1.460 liters - these dimensions are also on par with the next-higher SUV class. On request, Audi can supply a separation network (for the Q4 e-tron) and the storage and luggage compartment package. Among other things, it contains a loading floor that can be used at two height levels.

The Q4 Sportback e-tron comes with an electric luggage compartment lid as standard, in conjunction with the optional convenience key it reacts to foot gestures. With the optional trailer hitch, the compact rear-wheel drive electric SUVs can pull 1.000 kilograms, the quattro models even 1.200 kilograms (both braked, on a 12 percent gradient).

For city and light terrain: small turning circle and good ground clearance

The compact layout of the front drive unit of the quattro models enabled the developers to create the longitudinal members of the Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron to move relatively far towards the center of the vehicle. This created space for large wheel arches in which the wheels can be turned widely: the turning circle of the Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron measures just 10,2 meters for the rear-wheel drive variants. With their ground clearance of around 18 centimeters, both models can cope well with light terrain. A cladding covers the drive units from below.

Fast HPC charging: power for around 130 kilometers in ten minutes - under ideal conditions

DC charging is another strength that the Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron qualify as a fully everyday all-rounder. Depending on the size of the battery, they can be charged at HPC columns (HPC = High Power Charging) with up to 100 or 125 kW of power. With 125 kW, the battery goes from five to 38 percent state of charge (SoC) in 80 minutes under ideal conditions. The Q4 40 e-tron2 can - also under ideal conditions - recharge electricity for around 130 kilometers (WLTP) in around ten minutes. In the WLTP cycle, it achieves a range of up to 520 kilometers.
