A front radar, a front camera, four surroundings cameras, two rear radars and eight ultrasonic sensors: when fully equipped, the sensors of the Audi Q4 cover e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron a large measuring field and numerous traffic situations. Important driver assistance systems are standard, the optional systems are divided into four packages - the assistance package, the assistance package plus, the assistance package pro and the safety package.

Safety first: extensive range of driver assistance systems

One of the standard systems is the lane departure warning - your steering interventions can prevent the car from leaving the lane unintentionally. The Audi pre sense front safety system can use its radar and camera to detect impending collisions in front of the car, warn the driver and, in an emergency, initiate braking. The turning assistant supports him in the same way when turning left, the avoidance assistant helps him to drive around obstacles by means of steering impulses. The acoustic and visual parking aid measures the distance to the rear.

The predictive efficiency assistant, which evaluates navigation data and traffic signs, helps drivers save energy. When the car approaches a zone that requires slow pace - such as a town, an intersection, or a bend - it indicates to the car to take your foot off the right pedal. When he does this, the system controls the coasting and recuperation without the driver having to intervene. The drowsiness assistant uses certain patterns to permanently check whether the driver is fit. The Road Sign recognition and the predictive speed limiter complete the range of series systems.

Even more comfort and aplomb: the optional systems

Among the optional systems, the Adaptive Speed Assistant specializes in longitudinal guidance. It regulates the distance to the vehicle in front by accelerating and decelerating and works closely with the predictive efficiency assistant. The Adaptive Driving Assistant extends the Adaptive Speed Assistant to include lateral guidance: light steering interventions make it easier for the driver to stay in the middle of the lane. In order to maintain lateral guidance, he only has to lightly touch the capacitive steering wheel, which is part of the system, and thereby prove that he is paying attention. However, he always remains responsible for driving the vehicle.

The lane change warning monitors the traffic behind and next to the car and warns the driver if they want to change lanes in a critical situation. To do this, it uses the signals from the rear radar sensors as well as the exit warning. The latter alerts the driver and passengers if they want to open a door while a cyclist or another vehicle approaches from behind. The rear cross traffic assistant increases safety when maneuvering backwards. The emergency assistant brings the car to a standstill if the driver is no longer able to do so. Audi pre sense basic and Audi pre sense rear complement the standard safety system Audi pre sense front. For convenient and safe parking, Audi offers cameras around the area - they provide detailed images of the immediate surroundings from different perspectives.
