With the Grande Prémio de Portugal from March 24th to 26th in Portimão, BMW M is starting an anniversary season: the 25th season as “Official Car of MotoGP™”. The close partnership with MotoGP™ rights holder Dorna Sports goes back to 1999. At the opener in Portugal there will also be the new Safety car made its debut by BMW M. The new BMW M2 MotoGP™ Safety car based on the new BMW M2, which celebrated its world premiere in October. The new BMW M2 inspires with the classic characteristics of a high-performance sports car - in a concentrated form and with advanced technology. With its compact dimensions and the 460 hp M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine, the new BMW M2 forms the perfect basis for a BMW M Safety Car. For its use on the MotoGP™ race tracks, the BMW M2 was equipped with various safety car elements.

These include a roll bar, Recaro seats, 6-point racing seat belts, a fire extinguisher, the safety car roof beam and the corresponding front flashers. Some M Performance Parts such as the exhaust system, chassis, carbon mirror flaps, diffuser and rear wing were also installed. The livery of the BMW M2 MotoGP™ Safety Car corresponds to the typical BMW M Safety Car livery. In addition to the new BMW M2 MotoGP™ Safety Car, the Safety Car fleet will also include numerous other BMW M Safety, Medical and Official Cars as well as BMW M 2023 RR Safety Bikes in 1000.
